The Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation raised over $120,000 at their Denim Ball on August 4th. 

Urban Ministries of Wake County received a $6,100 grant from the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina Foundation for the agency’s Open Door Clinic. 

Junior Achievement of the Triad received a grant to provide programming to 7th grade students at six Forsyth County Title I middle schools from the Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust in Winston-Salem.

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill received $543.3 million in donor commitments in fiscal year 2017, marking Carolina’s best-year-ever fundraising performance.

The Women’s Resource Center of Greensboro held a workshop on Fall Vegetable Gardening “Extending the Harvest” event on August 22nd. 

Members of the Triangle Land Conservancy staff visited Knightdale High School of Collaborative Design on August 15th to make plans around expanding their partnership in the community.

Family Abuse Services of Alamance County named LaTonya McIver Penny as their new executive director.

United Way of Alamance County will be moving into new offices at 220 East Front Street in downtown Burlington.

Durham Rescue Mission hosted a Back-to-School Party for Needy Students. Volunteers filled over 3,000 backpacks filled with school supplies for needy children.

Band Together NC named Thorne Daubenspeck as their new executive director. Prior to joining Band Together, Daubenspeck was Director of Sponsorship and Digital Sales at Shannon Media.

Triad Goodwill will hold the Grand Reopening of the expanded Charles & Betty Younce Career Center at N. Elm in Greensboro on Wednesday, August 30th. 

GreenHill Center for NC Art will present its 38th annual Winter Show holiday exhibition featuring works by over 100 North Carolina artists, December 3rd, 2017 – January 13th, 2018.

Registration is open for the North Carolina Center for Nonprofit’s 2017 Conference in Concord. The conference will take place from September 13th to 15th. 

The Lucy Daniels Center will hold a “Bookmarked Workshop” on September 23rd, topics include early literacy skills, imaginative play, creative thinking, problem-solving, and kindergarten readiness.

Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro’s second annual spiritual care conference, “Companions on the Journey: Deepening the Conversation” will be held on Thursday, September 28th at the Lusk Center in Greensboro.

Submissions for Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity’s 6th annual ReStore ReUse Contest will be accepted through midnight on August 31st.

 The AFP NC Triad Chapter announced the award recipients to be honored during the 25th Anniversary National Philanthropy Day celebration on November 20th.

HandsOn NWNC will celebrate 10 years of service to the Winston-Salem community by organizing 10 different volunteer service projects with 10 different community partners from August 24th through October 6th.

AFP Triangle North Carolina Chapter is seeking nominations for its National Philanthropy Day award. Nomination deadlines are September 1st. 

Marbles BIG IDEA Forum will take place on October 4th at Marbles Kids Museum in Downtown Raleigh.

Community Workforce Solutions in partnership with Wake
Tech Community College launches a Basic Culinary Training Program to prepare trainees for employment in the food service industry.

Registration is open for Activate Good‘s 6th annual 9/11 Day of Service. The event includes 70 service project shifts for over 40 different nonprofits and schools around the Triangle.

The 14th Annual Raleigh Neighborhood Exchange will be held September 16th at the NCSU McKimmon Center. Registration closes September 8th.

Applications for Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation (LCEF)‘s Small Toolbox for Education Grant are open until September 29th. LCEF will donate up to $5 million.
