Central Scholarship awarded Richard Whitfield a career and technology training scholarship to attend the North American Trade School in Baltimore. 

Sugarlands Distilling Company will team up with the Appalachia Service Project to build houses in Gatlinburg after the wake of the 2016 fires.

The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation awarded a nearly $1 million grant to the National Park Foundation’s Centennial Campaign for America’s National Parks, allowing the launch of the National Park Service Mellon Humanities Fellows program.

The Brown Rudnick Charitable Foundation awarded a Community Grant to P396K, a District 75 Special Needs School in Brooklyn, New York, to help the school create a garden for the special needs, low-income students.

The Clark Hulings Fund for Visual Artists (CHF) selected 13 artist fellows for its 2018 Business Accelerator Program. CHF’s initiative seeks to help the artists better manage their businesses and overcome the specific entrepreneurial challenges they face.

The Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery held its second American Portrait Gala on November 19th, raising $1 million in support of the museum’s exhibition programming. 

Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation awarded more than $5.5 million in life-saving equipment to first responder organizations in local communities across the nation throughout 2017. 

The Chick-fil-A Foundation awarded $1.23 million in grants through the organization’s 2018 True Inspiration Awards to 23 nonprofits to help further their work fostering leadership and entrepreneurial spirit in children.

Beginning #GivingTuesday, November 28th, Charity Navigator will be making concise impact statements and progress reports for 2,400 charities available free of charge on its website.

On November 20th, Lighthouse Guild hosted its annual LightYears Gala at the Mandarin Oriental in New York City.

War Child USA launched $249, a campaign raising awareness about global spending on war, which amounts to approximately $249 per person, per year for every man, woman, and child on earth. 

The Walton Family Foundation and Ford Foundation are each committing $3 million over three years to support creative solutions to diversify curatorial and management staff at art museums across the United States. 

NSF International launched new services to help companies measure their environmental impacts, identify potential risks, and capitalize on improvement opportunities.

Independence Blue Cross Foundation in partnership with the Justice Center for Research at Penn State University launched a multi-media public awareness campaign that will share stories of addiction and recovery to reduce the shame often associated with opioid abuse.

In 2018, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami will celebrate 60 years of maintaining a positive influence on the high school drop-out rate, poverty, digital divide, and mentoring gap in the local community.

MoneyKey will help provide financial assistance to students who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement with a $2,500 USD Scholarship toward tuition books and other expenses. The application deadline for the winter term is December 31st.
