PENCIL‘s 20th Anniversary Gala Celebration raised $1.7 million dollars to continue to provide New York City students with a strong education.

received a gift of $2 million from the William & Dorothy Noonan Fund of the Princeton Area Community Foundation. This gift represents the single largest donation in Eden’s 40 year history of serving individuals with autism spectrum disorders across the lifespan.

The Worcester Art Museum has received a commitment of $4 million to endow its director position. The gift from the Myles & C. Jean McDonough Foundation—on behalf of C. Jean McDonough—is a major coup for the Museum, which has made significant strides under the leadership of Matthias Wascheck to engage and diversify audiences.

At the Close It Summit 2015 in Washington, D.C.,  Innovate+Educate announced a $924,282 grant from Walmart that will be used over 15 months to fund research and build recommendations that support the advancement of entry-level workers in retail and adjacent sectors. This is the first year Innovate+Educate is focusing its research-based strategies on retail to highlight opportunities available within the sector.

On October. 20th, The Women’s Sports Foundation will celebrate the biggest night in women’s sports at its 36th Annual Salute to Women in Sports awards gala in New York City. Some of the top honors to be announced include The Women’s Sports Foundation’s coveted 2015 Sportswoman of the Year award, as will the Billie Jean King Contribution Award and Wilma Rudolph Courage Award.

The Chester County Fund for Women and Girls welcomed its 12th class of the Girls Advisory Board (GAB). To date, GAB has awarded over 70 grants totaling close to $224,000 to programs that aim to improve the lives of girls and young women in the county.  Through this award-winning philanthropy program, high school girls learn to address critical needs in their communities.

Voya Financial, Inc. has won the first-ever Corporate Philanthropy Award from the Invest in Others Charitable Foundation. Voya was selected for its ongoing dedication to helping community charities and for supporting the generous volunteer efforts of its employees.

The Prudential 4.01K Race for Retirement has been rescheduled until Saturday, November 7th due to weather conditions. The race is to raise awareness for the Retirement Challenge and spur action.

Evanston Community Foundation‘s (ECF) Board of Directors appoints Monique Brunson Jones as ECF’s new President and CEO, effective November 2.  The appointment concludes a thorough search process by the board which began earlier this year, when President and CEO Sara Schastok announced her plans to retire by the end of 2015.

The Holocaust Memorial Center will honor Serta Restokraft’s Jackie and Larry Kraft at its upcoming anniversary dinner on November 1st.  At the event, former New York City mayor Rudy Guiliani will serve as the keynote speaker.

The Environmental Media Association will recognize those in the entertainment industry who actively express their concern for the environment through their work on October 24th at the Awards 25th Anniversary. Honorees included Gwyneth Paltrow and George Miller.

The Emily Hall Tremaine Foundation has offers contemporary art curators, in partnership with a museum or an established non-profit exhibition space, the opportunity to be awarded an Emily Hall Tremaine Exhibition Award. As the second Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists National Convention closed on Oct. 4 delegates collected hundreds of unused hotel amenities, including soap, shampoo, conditioners, lotion, mouthwash, tissues and other toiletries.  The donation was then presented to My Friend’s Place, a safe-haven daytime shelter for homeless youth ages 12-25.

Young Survival Coalition (YSC), an organization dedicated to young women affected by breast cancer, is bringing them together for the second annual YSC Summit, March 11-13, 2016, in Atlanta, Ga. The summit will include conference speakers and workshop sessions.

Susan Corke joins Human Rights First as Director of Countering Antisemitism and Extremism. Corke is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in government and the non-profit sector promoting tolerance and supporting democratic reform in Europe and Eurasia. In this newly-created position, Corke will direct the organization’s ongoing effort to foster American leadership, in partnership with European allies, in combating antisemitism and extremism.

The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) and GROHE America, a division of the GROHE Group, have partnered for its sixth annual HopeFlows …. 30 Minutes at a Time campaign to fund breast cancer research.  Each purchase of the a GROHE Ladylux Cafe Touch faucet, Minta Touch faucet, and Euphoria Shower System, GROHE will donate $25 to BCRF and $10 for each Rainshower Next Generation Icon pink hand shower.

Bar Louie‘s 8th annual Eat.Drink.Think Pink campaign will donate $1 for every “Think Pink” martini sold to breast cancer research during the month of October.

As part of Yum! Brands’ World Hunger Relief effort to raise awareness and the new “Feed the World Ambassador Program,” Yum! Brands have adopted a community in Jinotega, Nicaragua.

Dude Ranchers’ Association‘s partnership with the Jack & Jill Late Stage Cancer Foundation  since 2011, to provide “WOW! Experiences” to families with parents with late-stage cancer, has given 21 families a timeout from cancer and much-needed time to smile, laugh and make memories together as a family by providing them a one-of-a-kind dude ranch vacation.

On Saturday, November 21, School on Wheels will participate in the United Way HomeWalk 2015, a 5K walk to end homelessness in LA County, in Exposition Park.

and UNICEF will send an aircraft with emergency aid and school supplies from Oslo, Norway to Amman, Jordan in November to aid Syrian children living in refugee camps. Through this initiative, Norwegian and UNICEF will help the more than two million children affected by the brutal civil war in Syria.

As part of its 10-year investment strategy, the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation is using a $2.25 million grant from the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation to implement Screening, Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) in health care settings across New Hampshire as part of a three-year Screen & Intervene Youth SBIRT Initiative. The New Hampshire Charitable Foundation, the NH Medical Society and the NH Board of Medicine will host a summit on October 19th to address research on stopping substance abuse.

Catholic Charities USA will host a webinar on Thursday, October 29th entitled “Frankenstein Effect: The Risky Transformation of Volunteers into Employees” at 2pm.

Songa Designs International, a fashion accessories brand that supports under-resourced women in Rwanda by providing fair-wage jobs and training, will celebrate the fourth year of #GivingTuesday on December 1st, also known as National Give Back Day, by highlighting brands that are making a difference every day.

“Is This a Better Place? The Art & Science of Place-Based Evaluation” national convening hosted by the Jacobs Center for Neighborhood Innovation, Aspen Institute Forum for Community Solutions and Neighborhood Funders Group took place in San Diego on October 5 and 6. The event focused on effective practices and new approaches to evaluating place-based initiatives.

In recognition of World Food Day on October 16th, cuddle+kind launched the #marchformeals initiative. For every doll sold on that day, doubled the donations to 20 meals to hungry children. In addition, for every photo of an adult and/or child “marching” tagged with #marchformeals, one meal was be donated.

On October 17th, Neon Museum presented its next Junior Interpreter Tour. The nine-month-long educational program is offered for middle- and high-school-aged docents, will take place on the third Saturday of each month through May, and marks the newest addition to the museum’s vibrant Volunteer Program.

Evanston Community Foundation has announced its 2015-2016 Workshops for nonprofit organizations. This year’s theme will focus on “Internal Change/External Impact” to address mission supportive budgeting, nonprofit storytelling, and equitable institutions.

PRS, Inc. and the Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board  recently started Turning Point, a coordinated specialty service program to help adolescents and young adults aged 16-25 who are experiencing a first psychiatric episode.  The program is made possible through a grant from the Virginia Dept. of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services.
