Marbles Kids Museum was awarded a grant of $345,245 from The Institute of Museum and Library Services to transform one of its exhibits into a vibrant new space that fosters culturally relevant STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) learning with a special focus on dual-language learners.

The Rockingham County Community Foundation awarded $4,730 in local grant awards from its community grantmaking fund to organizations including Mount Jubilee Ministries, Rockingham County Tennis Association, and Rockingham Pregnancy Care Center

State officials today announced the award of $2.1 million in grants through the federal Recreational Trails Program for 25 trails projects across the state. The matching grants were recommended by the North Carolina Trails Committee and approved by Secretary Susi H. Hamilton of the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.

The board of advisors of the Morrisville Community Fund announced $1,500 in local grant awards from its community grantmaking fund. This year’s nonprofit recipients include $1,000 to InterAct for the Lethality Assessment program and $500 to Kiran, Inc. for the transitional employment program.

2017 Wells Fargo North Carolina Principal of the Year, Jason Griffin, will be the keynote speaker at the 2017 North Carolina PTA Annual Founders Day Celebration. The Founders Day event will take place November 4, 2017 at the NCPTA Headquarters in Raleigh.

Guilford Green Foundation held their 2017 Founders of Guilford Green Foundation Dinner on September 29th. 

On October 5th, the Durham Arts Council (DAC) hosted a Click! Photography Festival Artist Talk featuring artists from the Triangle Region who were selected to participate in Photo Ville’s The Fence 2017 exhibit. 

Marbles Kids Museum celebrated 10 years of FUNdamental play with a birthday breakfast for community partners on September 29th. 

United Way of Henderson County held its 2017 campaign kickoff concert on August 25th at Southern Appalachian Brewery in Hendersonville.

The American Association of University Women hosted a Work Smart salary negotiation workshop on October 5th at the Women’s Resource Center of Greensboro to help women gain skills to successfully negotiate salary and benefits packages. 

Cherokee, NC held their 105th Annual Cherokee Indian Fair October 3rd-7th at the Cherokee Indian Fair Grounds. The event combined carnival rides and games with traditional Cherokee stickball games, crafts, and food vendors, and each day brought a new theme.

StepUp Ministry will hold a Kickoff Party for its Share the Pie event on October 18th in Raleigh. 

The ABA Charlotte RAMS will be collecting items for the many victims of the recent hurricane disasters at their season opener at the Spectrum center on October 27th. 

Eastern North Carolina Stop Human Trafficking Now will hold a Celebration to Stop Human Trafficking on October 14th in Greenville, NC. 

The North Carolina Network of Grantmakers will host their Foundation Fair on October 18th at Warren Wilson College to provide nonprofits in all areas of the state an opportunity to interact with and learn about foundations in North Carolina. 

CapTel NC will host the 3rd Annual Hearing Loss and Accessibility Expo on November 2nd in Cary. There is no admission fee for the event. 

The Triad Health Project will hold The Ron Johnson Red Ribbon Run & Aids Walk on November 8th in Greensboro. 

Tickets are on sale for Activate Good‘s inaugural Shop For Good event to be held December 2nd at Marbles Kids Museum in Raleigh. 

Burning Coal Theatre is offering a new class to assist actors in sharpening their audition skills, ‘The Art of the Audition’ will be held from November 6th to December 11th. 

The Durham Arts Council‘s Art Walk Holiday Market will take place on November 18th-19th. The fine arts and crafts event celebrates the holiday season with local art and live music in downtown Durham. 

Throughout October, Susan G. Komen North Carolina Triangle to the Coast will collaborate with local businesses and organizations as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Proceeds raised by its partners will help support Susan G. Komen‘s goal to reduce the number of breast cancer deaths by 50 percent in the U.S. by 2026.
