Wells Fargo volunteers, in partnership with Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity, worked on a community project Shiloh Community Garden on March 23rd and 24th. 

GreenHill was awarded $21,500 from Lincoln Financial Foundation. This support will allow GreenHill to continue to offer free Group Visits for undeserved children, workshops for parents and caregivers and expand curriculum to better accommodate special needs children and adults.

Heart Math Tutoring received a three-year $350,000 grant from The Leon Levine Foundation, kicking off its spring funding initiative. 

Bell, Davis & Pitt will contribute $10,000 a year over the course of six years to Project Impact, an educational initiative benefiting at-risk students who are pre-K eligible or who attend Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools. 

The Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament awarded $50,000 to The Hill Center of Durham in support of a reading intervention program for Carteret County Public Schools’ most struggling students.

Chiesi USA, a Cary-based specialty pharmaceutical company, received the Triangle Business Journal Corporate Philanthropy Award. In the past 12-months, Chiesi USA awarded more than $550,000 in support of patients within its therapeutic areas and select local charities.

The Johnston County Community Foundation is accepting nominations for the 2017 Frances Finch Hobart Award for volunteering in community service. 

The Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce named Adrienne Cole as the new President and CEO. 

Kidznotes partnered with Black Violin for a night of performances and fundraising on March 23rd. 

The Triangle Literacy Council held an orientation for a Department of Labor Youth Build Program targeting low-income young men and women between 16 and 24. Over the course of a year, participants will be assisted by Triangle Literacy Council staff in obtaining their GED, vocational training, and leadership skills.

Communities In Schools of Durham Executive Director Beverly Hardin will be stepping down at the end of March. Cerise Collins will serve as Interim Executive Director.

Dress for Success Triangle hosted its public Boutique Sale for spring attire on Saturday, March 25th in Raleigh.

United Arts Council will hold a First Friday Exhibit and Reception on April 7th at their featuring artwork by Wake County Public School System Gifts of Gold participants.

The Nile Project, in partnership with NCSU, held its Creek Connections event hosted by the Walnut Creek Wetland Center on March 19th. 

Fayetteville Technical Community College (FTCC) held its Grand Opening Ceremony on March 23rd of the FTCC Educational Center. 

Keystone Systems and the North Carolina Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped selected Heather Brown as the honoree of the 2017 Julie Klauber Award.

The 24 Foundation appointed Bryan McMillan and Justin Hage to its Board of Directors and Damian Magarelli and Anina deNobriga as part-time staff members.

AFP NC Triad Chapter is holding “Small Shop Success: Building Your Development Dream Team” on April 13th in Greensboro. 
 
Carolinas Plastics Recycling Council is sponsoring the “Your Bottle Means Jobs” multimedia campaign on in the Raleigh-Durham Triangle area which will run until May 15th. 
 
The Lupus Foundation of America, North Carolina Chapter is in need of 175 volunteers to provide help at its 16th Annual Walk to End Lupus Now: Charlotte on May 6th at Central Piedmont Community College. 
 
The Winston-Salem Foundation is having its Community Luncheon on May 3rd. 
 
The Orange County Rape Crisis Center will have its annual “Shout Out! Against Sexual Violence” event on April 24th at the Chapel Hill Public Library. 
 
The 32nd Annual North Carolina Watermelon Festival will take place on August 2nd-5th in Murfreesboro.  
 
The Durham Art Guild is presenting a “Swing into Spring” preview exhibition from March 17th-April 1st at the Suntrust Gallery in Durham.

North Carolina LiteracyCorps and Student Coalition for Action in Literacy Education are holding the Global Youth Service Day 2017 on April 22nd in Chapel Hill.

This is an exciting time for our work.  EMCF recently announced an update to its limited life strategy and reaffirmed its commitment to finding a path for PropelNext’s to live on beyond the life of the Foundation. We believe that PropelNext has the potential to become a vehicle for other foundations and philanthropists who are dedicated to fostering and supporting the next generation of nonprofit leaders. In many ways, we’re just getting started.
