JLD and Mary KayThe Junior League of Dallas  and Mary Kay Inc. partnered to award $25,000 in scholarships to four female students, the recipients of the third annual Women LEAD Scholarship Program, to create opportunities for future women leaders, on March 31st, at the Junior League of Dallas’ headquarters.

GE will give $50 million in philanthropic funding for schools, job training and healthcare to Boston, its new home. One-half of the commitment — $25 million — will go to the city’s public high schools for career planning and computer science, $15 million to community health care in areas that need greater capacity for medical care and $10 million to increase the diversity in the workforce for jobs of the future.

Beth Slusher21st Century Fox expands its partnership with Give a Note with a generous gift in the form of Give a Notes grants, which will support up to 20 under-funded music education programs at schools across the United States. The partnership commemorates the series finale of “American Idol.

The LGBT Community Fund at The Chicago Community Trust has awarded three Transformational Grants, supporting projects to significantly advance Chicago’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer community towards a better quality of life. The LGBT Fund will award $350,000 in this Transformational Grant Round.

Sam  Frank4Good‘s next webinar will be Part 2 on “Effective Strategic Planning” by Sam Frank, on April 13th.

The Center for Democracy & Technology has launched an Advisory Council to bring new insight and expertise to their policy advocacy work. The Advisory Council has 56 inaugural members, comprising tech policy leaders from a wide variety of organizations and experiences.

The Blackbaud Index reported that overall charitable giving to nonprofits increased 1.0% while online giving increased 10.2% for the three months ending February 2016 as compared to the same period in 2015.

Alliance for Justice has been selected as one of three nonprofit groups to receive funds from CREDO in April 2016. CREDO will donate a portion of their revenue to a wide range of nonprofit groups based on action members and non-members’ votes for the groups they think should receive the funding. 

Shari RoweCountry music artist Shari Rowe helped raise awareness for Autism Speaks by urging others to pledge to wear blue on April 2nd. The hashtag – #LIUB or Light It Up Blue was used for social media as pledges raised awareness about autism.

The Boston Foundation selected Orlando Watkins as the Vice President for Programs. Watkins was a former foundation Senior Director, as well as a current executive Vice President for Match Education.

Alaskans had the highest amount donated per person in the Pick.Click.Give campaign at $108 per person, which totals to over $3.1 million donated by the entire state, as of April 1st. 

The Trans United Fund launches its first political advocacy organization, focused on issues of concerns to transgender communities.

4.25 Children's PrizeThe Children’s Prize Foundation currently has a $250,000 funding opportunity focused on global child survival available as part of its annual competition. The organization invites individuals, teams, and organizations around the world to submit their proposals until May 14th. 

Donor Relations Guru‘s “The Four Pillars Conference” will take place on April 14th in Chicago, IL and on June 30th in Davis, CA. The conference is designed for the new-comer as well as the donor relations professional looking to take their program to the next level. Registration is required.

Time For a Change Foundation‘s 13th Annual Star-Studded Awards Gala will honor local community heroes that are helping make a positive change in their communities and are making a difference for all of “Life’s Precious Jewels”. The event takes place April 15th in Ontario, CA.

Family Matters of Greater Washington is committed to helping District girls and boys achieve their dreams of attending prom, regardless of their family’s income. On April 13th and 14th, the nonprofit will host it’s 5th Annual Dresses4Dreams and Suited4Dreams Event to help low-income teens attend prom.

The National Hispanic Media Coalition Television Writers Program is inviting all Latino television writers looking to hone their skills to apply by August 7th for the paid, five-week workshop that focuses on the writing of an original TV pilot conducted in an environment that simulates a TV Writers Room.
