At the Women’s Fund of Winston-Salem‘s Twelfth Annual Luncheon on November 9th, the organization awarded $157,000 in grants to local programs and initiatives that address the social issues affecting the economic security of women and girls in Forsyth County.
The SECU Foundation will grant a $5,000 stipend to each of the ten Public Fellows it has selected for its Public Fellows Internship Program.
The North Carolina State Employees Credit Union Foundation presented a $50,000 grant to the College of Education at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, helping to provide internships for education candidates.
Triangle North Healthcare Foundation approved $300,000 in grant awards to local organizations in the Foundation’s fifth grant cycle. Funded organizations include Boys & Girls Club of North Central NC, Community Partners of Hope, and NC Med Assist.
Friends of the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina will match donations made to the nonprofit up to $56,000 now through December 31st to help ensure people have enough to eat this Thanksgiving.
The Golden LEAF Foundation awarded $1.5 million to the the town of Oak Island through its Disaster Recovery Grant Program to help rebuild the Oak Island Pier.
The Me Fine Foundation raised over $210,000 at the the 2017 Me Fine Gala to help provide financial assistance and emotional support programs to parents and caregivers whose children are receiving critical medical treatment from Duke and UNC Children’s Hospitals.
The Greene County Community Foundation awarded $4,210 in local grants from its community grantmaking fund. This year’s nonprofit recipients are: Girl Scouts- North Carolina Coastal Pines, Greene County Public Library, Muscular Dystrophy Association, and Prevent Blindness North Carolina.
The Golden LEAF Foundation board of directors awarded $2.6 million to the Public Schools of Robeson County and $405,395 to the Pine Terrace Volunteer Fire Department to replace vehicles and equipment that was damaged or destroyed due to Hurricane Matthew.
The Women’s Giving Network of Wake County awarded $95,800 in local grants this year, bringing their cumulative grantmaking total to more than $1.1 million. The grant recipients are Friends of the NC Museum of Natural Sciences; JusticeMatters, Inc.; and the Raleigh Wake Partnership to End and Prevent Homelessness.
Youth Grantmakers in Action recently accepted a $5,000 grant check from Mo Green, executive director of the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation, to support youth-led projects in Forsyth County this spring.
GSK and Triangle Community Foundation granted ten local nonprofit organizations a $40,000 GSK IMPACT Award for improving health outcomes in the Triangle region.
Phillips Foundation provided catalytic capital to Partners Ending Homelessness from 2013-2016, through United Way of Greater Greensboro, in grant support totaling $1.96 million. Because of this seed funding, Guilford County’s chronic homelessness count dropped from 143 cases to 3.

Applications for the Community Foundation of Henderson County Women in Need of Support grants are due to CFHC by 5 p.m., Friday, December 15th.
Sage launched their second round of funding from Sage Foundation’s Enterprise Fund. The Enterprise Fund is meant to help small, frontline charities with an income less than $2M create lasting, sustainable change.
Applications are open through November 17th for the fourth cohort Nonprofit Technology Network‘s Digital Inclusion Fellowship, a program sponsored in the Triangle by Google Fiber.
The Winston-Salem Foundation‘s one-stop application process goes live on January 1st, and most applications for merit-based scholarships have an April 1st deadline.
WGU North Carolina and its parent university—Western Governors University—will award up to $500,000 in scholarships to new students throughout the country, with at least $50,000 being awarded in North Carolina. Applications are now being accepted through December 31st for the Take Flight Scholarship; and now through January 31st for the WGU Salute To Veterans Scholarship.
The State Employees’ Credit Union is increasing its 2018-2019 support for NC GreenPower’s Solar Schools program. The SECU Foundation program renewal will provide a two-year $150,000 challenge grant for up to 10 K-12 public schools to earn the opportunity for a solar array system to be installed on their campus.
Greensboro Partnership and ArtsGreensboro are now accepting nominations for the 2018 O.Henry Award. Nominations are due Wednesday, November 8th.
Applications are now open for the Hispanic League scholarships. Deadline for the application is January 15th, 2018.
