The General Assembly appropriated an additional $30 million to the Golden LEAF Foundation through Senate Bill 338 to aid in disaster recovery efforts related to Hurricane Matthew, the western wildfires, Tropical Storm Julia and Tropical Storm Hermine.

Forsyth Tech received a $10,000 grant from Bank of America Foundation to support Economic and Workforce Development programs.

The Golden Leaf Foundation awarded several Triad organizations and groups a total of $12.4 million on July 5th to support a variety of projects throughout the community.

Duke Energy committed $25,000 to The Boys & Girls Clubs of Durham and Orange Counties to support activities involving science, technology, engineering, and math.

The Foundation for a Healthy High Point approved $393,842 in grants to local organizations and non-profits as a part of the Foundation’s Spring Grant cycle.

Vance County Community Foundation awarded $7,130 in local grant awards from its community grantmaking fund.

Chowan Community Funds Foundation gave $16,000 in local grant awards from its community grantmaking fund.

The Women’s Fund of Winston-Salem will grant over $100,000 to local nonprofits.

Duke staff and faculty visited Governor Roy Cooper presented a $51,000 Doing Good in the Neighborhood donation from Duke employees to the North Carolina Disaster Relief Fund. The contribution will go toward Hurricane Matthew relief efforts.

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill was awarded a four-year, $1.5 million grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation for an initiative designed to integrate the humanities into UNC’s broader curriculum and foster new humanities-related avenues of public engagement.

The Asheville Merchants Fund of The Community Foundation of Western North Carolina awarded $405,000 in grants to nine Buncombe County nonprofit organizations to fund projects designed to strengthen the community.

The Joey Lagano Foundation made a donation of $20,000 to Victory Junction to fund eight camperships on July 5th.

The AJ Fletcher Foundation approved eleven grants to seven organizations totaling $1,129,000 in its 2017 Mid-Year Grant cycle.

The Ronald McDonald Houses of North Carolina received a $250,000 grant from Martin Marietta to provide meals, lodging and other support for seriously-ill children and their families. This grant will cover the local Houses of Chapel Hill and Durham, as well as four other houses across the state.

Monarch received a $150,000 grant from The Cannon Foundation to support the renovation and expansion of its Tanglewood Arbor Facility-Based Crisis Center in Lumberton.

Golden LEAF Foundation awarded $800,000 to Bladen County’s ongoing clean up efforts relating to Hurricane Matthew. 

United Way of the Greater Triangle, Wake County, the City of Raleigh, and Southeast Raleigh Promise launched the first Southeast Raleigh Social Innovation Challenge with a $120,000 prize pool on July 22nd.

The North Carolina Housing Coalition was awarded over $1.1M to support homelessness prevention efforts and to expand access to housing counseling services in marginalized communities throughout North Carolina.

The North Carolina African American Heritage Commission received a $148,450 grant from the National Institute of Museum and Library Services for its project “Green Books’ Oasis Spaces: African American Travel in NC, 1936-1966.”

Guilford Green Foundation‘s 2017 Granting Ceremony took place on July 20th at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex.

Duke University’s Office of Durham & Regional Affairs is accepting applications for 2017 Community Care Fund grants. Nonprofits in Durham, Wake, and Orange counties are encouraged to apply, and applications will be accepted through August 2nd.

The North Carolina Community Foundation is now accepting grant applications for projects funded from the Women’s Fund of North Carolina.

Wilson County Community FoundationFutrell-Mauldin Community Foundation for Greater Rocky Mount, and Edgecombe Charitable Foundation are currently accepting grant applications for projects funded from its community grantmaking fund.

Applications for Durham Arts Council’s Emerging Artists Grants are now open. The deadline to apply is September 22nd. 

Applications are being accepted for Durham Cerebral Palsy Foundation Fund 2017 Grant until October 1st.

Carteret, Catawba Valley, Cherokee Clay, Graham and Green Counties are now accepting grant applications for community projects funded by their community fund during summer of 2017. More information can be found at the North Carolina Community Foundation
