The Pacific Dental Services Foundation will embark on a service trip to the Tigray Region in Northern Ethiopia to provide donated dentistry to underserved patients in the communities of Mekelle and Hawzen.
The Israel Cancer Research Fund awarded 69 new grants, totaling $4.3 million for the 2019/2020 funding year. The grants are for basic and patient oriented research critical to finding cures and treatments for cancer.
Since its founding in 1978, Mercy Ships has served in more than 55 countries and directly impacted more than 2.71 million lives. The charity last served in Senegal in 1996.
Mercy Ships aims to provide up to 1,700 free surgeries during 10-month field service in Senegal. In addition to providing a variety of free surgeries, Mercy Ships will treat more than 4,000 patients with dental ailments as well as 2,000 to 3,000 patients suffering from eye conditions and diseases.
The Onassis Foundation renewed a $640,000 grant to support graduate study of ancient Greek thought at The New School for Social Research through 2024.
