On Thursday, Sept. 3, Passage Home and the J.D. Lewis Multi-Purpose Center VIP fundraising event raised $25,000 to benefit the Building A Stronger Raleigh Together campaign to break the cycle of poverty in Southeast Raleigh. These funds bring the campaign’s total to $110,000 since early 2015.

Waste Industries is donating $10,000 to the Veterans Leadership Council of North Carolina – Cares in support of its project to build the Veterans Life Center. The Waste Industries donation comes by way of the Full Circle Project.

The John William Pope Foundation has announced a new competitive grant initiative that will award two $100,000 grants to North Carolina nonprofits. Organizations can apply for the Joy Pope Memorial Grant in the Arts and the Joy Pope Memorial Grant in Human Services.

Initiative Capital, the N.C. Community Development Initiative’s lending and investment arm, has received a $1 million grant from the U.S. Treasury Department’s Community Development Financial Institutions Fund. The grant invests in and builds the capacity of community credit unions, banks, loan funds and other financial institutions serving rural and urban communities that lack adequate access to affordable financial products and services.

AAM Accreditation is a national achievement that recognizes a museum’s commitment to excellence, accountability, high professional standards and continued institutional improvement.

The Lupus Founda9.21.15 Lupus Foundation Maire Reynolds Headshottion of America, North Carolina Chapter (LFANC) has hired Máire Reynolds as Event Coordinator. In her role, she will plan, organize, and coordinate logistics for all LFANC chapter events throughout the state.

CenterFest Arts Festival, produced and presented by the Durham Arts Council, has just been named one of the “Top 100 Fine Arts Festivals in the United States” by Sunshine Artist Magazine and their artist members.

Representatives from State Employees’ Credit Union (SECU) and the SECU Foundation celebrated the groundbreaking of SECU Veterans Hall, a dormitory for female cadets at the Tarheel ChalleNGe Academy II in Stanly County, a North Carolina National Guard-sponsored volunteer program for high school dropouts.

Civic and community leaders from North Carolina have been accepted to the 2015-2016 class of Leadership North Carolina, the state’s premier leadership engagement program.

The Louisberg staff of Advance Community 9.21.15 Advance Community HealthHealth provided more than 100 free health screenings to Louisburg College Students at a Student Engagement Fair in early September. Our registered dietitian was on hand to provide nutritional tips and handouts.

The Lucy Daniels Center celebrates its 25th anniversary on November 25 at The Umstead Hotel and Spa. Guests will gather for Expressions V. A Celebration of Food and Art, which brings together philanthropists and culinary and arts enthusiasts in supporting the Lucy Daniels Center.

Groove Jam music festival, food drive, and fundraiser was held on Sept. 19 at Doodad Farm to help Greensboro Urban Ministry’s work with the homeless and hungry.

9.21.15 Camp Blue Skies FundraiserHF Financial recently held a supply drive, through its Hands & Feet Community Service Program, for Camp Blue Skies. The collected items will be used for the Camp Blue Skies camp for individuals over 21 with cognitive and developmental disabilities.

The Green Chair Project opened its secondary showroom to the public for its Summer Porch Sale fundraiser on September 17. Funds raised provide home furnishings for families transitioning to stability after homelessness, crisis, or disaster.

The Salvation Army of Wake County kicked off the It Takes An Army campaign last month, with a goal to raise $300,000 to support those in most need in Wake County. It Takes An Army is the first time volunteers are recruiting support through personal meetings with individuals.

Extreme Mammals: The Biggest, Smallest, and Most Amazing Mammals of All Time is now open at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences. This exhibition explores the ancestry and evolution of some of Earth’s most diverse mammals.

Open Door Ministries of High Point, in partnership with Church World Service, invites the community to walk with a purpose Sunday, September 27th during the 32nd Annual CROP Hunger Walk.

The NC Chapter of the U.S. National Committee for United Nations Women will host its annual “Learn Like a Girl: Gender, Education, Employment” Luncheon in Raleigh September 22.

The Duke Center for Strategic Philanthropy & Civil Society will host a presentation on September 30 by Nancy Roob, President and CEP of the Edna McConnell Clark Foundation, titled “A Decade of Capital Aggression.”

The Orange County Arts Commission‘s Piedmont Laureate Program is accepting applications from mystery fiction authors for the 2016. The primary goal of the program is to promote awareness and heighten appreciation for excellence in the literary arts throughout the Piedmont region.

The Triangle Community Foundation‘s Capacity Building Partnerships Program is accepting proposals from organizations addressing community development and youth literacy. This program will provide funding for organizational assessments and capacity building projects to organizations that fit within these areas.

Following the 2014 Parks Bond Referendum, which allocated $6 million for improvements to Pullen Arts Center and North Pullen Park, the City of Raleigh’s Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Resources Department is conducting the first of three public meetings to gather community input on October 13.

The Association of Fundraising Professionals NC Triad Chapter will host Elizabeth Carlock Phillips of the Phillips Foundation as its keynote speaker for their National Philanthropy Day event on November 9.
