On Thursday, Sept. 3, Passage Home and the J.D. Lewis Multi-Purpose Center VIP fundraising event raised $25,000 to benefit the Building A Stronger Raleigh Together campaign to break the cycle of poverty in Southeast Raleigh. These funds bring the campaign’s total to $110,000 since early 2015.
Waste Industries is donating $10,000 to the Veterans Leadership Council of North Carolina – Cares in support of its project to build the Veterans Life Center. The Waste Industries donation comes by way of the Full Circle Project.
The John William Pope Foundation has announced a new competitive grant initiative that will award two $100,000 grants to North Carolina nonprofits. Organizations can apply for the Joy Pope Memorial Grant in the Arts and the Joy Pope Memorial Grant in Human Services.
Initiative Capital, the N.C. Community Development Initiative’s lending and investment arm, has received a $1 million grant from the U.S. Treasury Department’s Community Development Financial Institutions Fund. The grant invests in and builds the capacity of community credit unions, banks, loan funds and other financial institutions serving rural and urban communities that lack adequate access to affordable financial products and services.

The Salvation Army of Wake County kicked off the It Takes An Army campaign last month, with a goal to raise $300,000 to support those in most need in Wake County. It Takes An Army is the first time volunteers are recruiting support through personal meetings with individuals.
