Six North Carolina counties and state highway patrols will receive a total of $10.5 million in federal grants for 911 system upgrades. The grant recipients include Chatham County, Cumberland County, Currituck County, Davie County, Franklin County, Pender County, and the N.C. State Highway Patrol.

The intended outcome for Cars for College is to remove the mobility barriers that often prevent students from owning and operating a safe and dependable motor vehicle.

Former trustee John O. McNairy was commemorated by Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation with a $250,000 gift meant to help launch a Cars for College program at Lenoir Community College.

The Center for Craft accepted a $25,000 gift from John McKibbon to support the “Building a Future for Craft” campaign with a named space in honor of Asheville art advocate John Cram.

The Craven County Community Foundation distributed $185,936 in local grant awards to Backpack Blessings, Children’s Cancer Parts of the Carolinas, Craven Literacy Council, New Bern High School Robotics Club, Special Olympics North Carolina, and others.

The Triangle Community Foundation selected Dress for Success NC for a $53,000 grant to increase the economic security of low-income women.
