GRAMMY Museum Mississippi receives $22,550 grant from the Mississippi Delta National Heritage Area, Upswell announces six finalists for the 2018 NGen Leadership Award, 4-H launches ‘Inspire Kids to DO’ campaign, and more.

GRAMMY Museum Mississippi was awarded a $22,550 grant from the Mississippi Delta National Heritage Area (MDNHA). The MDNHA grants program provides strategic investments in programs, projects and activities that help preserve, enhance, interpret and promote the uniqueness of the cultural and heritage experience within the Mississippi Delta.

The Paul Robeson Community Wellness Center opened on Saturday, August 18, made possible by a $1 million program-related investment from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and support from civic and business organizations.

On August 23rd, Good Society held their inaugural event to raise funds and awareness for the Central Texas Food Bank in Austin. The event, which drew over 150 people and raised $1700 and over 40 lbs of food, featured talks by both Mark Willis and acclaimed Executive Leadership Coach James Larson around the topic “How to Live Your Best Life Possible.”

The Brown Rudnick Charitable Foundation Corp. has awarded a Community Grant to University Prep Charter High School in the Bronx, NY. Specifically, the grant dollars will be used to purchase 20 TI-84 graphing calculators to be used for math class. 

The Navy SEALs Fund has received a $20,000 donation to provide education and financial assistance to current, retired, and former SEAL teammates and their immediate families from Michael and Kristina Gabelli.

Heroes on the Water named Nathan Franks as interim Chief Executive Officer for the nonprofit on September 1st.

Upswell named six finalists for the 2018 NGen Leadership Award: Quardean Lewis-Allen, Joseph McKellar, Monisha Kapila, Stacy Stout, Loren Cardeli, and KeAndra Cylear Dodds.

The STEM Future Foundation hosted its WE ALL WIN WITH STEM! (WAWS!) competition on Thursday, August 9th at Eden Church of Christ in Hayward, California. The WAWS! Academic Achievement Program is a nationwide research-presentation modeled competition-based program for students in grade levels K-12 that awards winners and their schools or nonprofit organizations prizes for program participation.

The Charles Bronfman Prize named Amy Bach as its 2018 recipient. Bach is the Founder, Executive Director and President of Measures for Justice, the first organization to publicly measure how the entire criminal justice system is performing in all counties across the United States by collecting, analyzing and comparing county-level data.

4-H is placing a national spotlight on the stories of young people through its newly launched ‘Inspire Kids to DO’ campaign. Led by youth and alumni voices, the campaign aims to engage parents, alumni and the public to join 4-H in empowering one million kids to learn-by-doing year-round. 4-H’s “Inspire Kids to Do” campaign also includes 30 Days of Doing, a month-long initiative that aims to engage one million young people across the country in hands-on learning opportunities.

Snohomish County Habitat for Humanity’s Bids for Builds Third Annual Auction will take place on October 5th.

Baseball for All’s Maria Pepe Girls Baseball Series will take place September 22nd- 23rd in Edgewater, NJ.

The Dan Marino Foundation and Badia Spices have partnered for the sixth consecutive year to “Go the Extra Yard for Those with Autism.” Now through December 31st, 2018, when customers purchase a bottle of Badia (1 LT) Extra Virgin Olive Oil anywhere in the world where Badia Spices are sold, Badia will donate 5 percent of the proceeds from the sales to The Dan Marino Foundation.
