Global Impact raised approximately $22.6 million in fiscal year 2017 for its charity alliance of more than 100 international relief and development charities.

SC Johnson donated $500,000 to support the renovation of the integrated science lab at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in Kenosha, Wisconsin. 

California State University, Los Angeles recieved a $16.6 million grant from the California Department of Health Care Services to promote dental health among underserved populations in Los Angeles.

The Isaac Bruce Foundation and the Buddy Fund partnered to fund a weight room renovation at Carnahan High School of the Future. The donation was matched by the NFL Foundation for a total of $10,000.

Arise Virtual Solutions Inc. donated more than $7,500 in back to school supplies for underserved children in the South Florida area.

City Harvest received their first donation from America’s Grow-a-Row which included 23,000 pounds of corn, zucchini, and peaches.

The Center for Peace and Security Studies at the University of California San Diego received a $3.32 million multi-year grant from the Charles Koch Foundation to support its mission and growth.

UnitedHealthcare donated 26 bicycles to students at Rocky Mountain Prep – Creekside Elementary School. The bikes were assembled at Bike to Work Day 2017 in Civic Center Park by UnitedHealthcare employee-volunteers and Bike to Work Day participants, with assistance from Wish for Wheels.

Douglas M. Hagerman was named Chair of the League of American Orchestras‘ Board of Directors. Hagerman is the retired senior vice president and general counsel of Rockwell Automation and immediate past chair of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. 

On August 23rd, AKTIV Against Cancer hosted a Celebrity Pro-Am Tennis Event with Tennis Pro James Blake, CEO of Flywheel Sarah Robb O’Hagan, and SNY Sportscaster Michelle Yu.

The Lighthouse Guild granted scholarships to Braden Flax and Cricket Bidleman. The scholarships are awarded to students who are legally blind across the country based on strong academic accomplishment and merit.

Venture for America, a two-year fellowship program for recent college graduates who want to work at a startup and create jobs in American cities, has named Jed Cohen as its new Chief Operating Officer.

Thomas A. Saenz, President and General Counsel of the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund and chair of the National Latino Media Council (NLMC), and Alex Nogales, secretariat of NLMC and President and CEO of the National Hispanic Media Coalition, met with the Chairman and CEO of CBS Corporation, Leslie Moonves, and other top executives at the network, to take immediate action to increase Latino diversity and inclusion at the network.

Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) International announces election of Elizabeth LeClair, Jeffrey M. Norris, and Mary Tschirhartto to three year terms on the CFRE Board of Directors.

Projects Abroad celebrate its 25th anniversary this month. The company has connected over 100,000 volunteers with communities around the world and sent volunteers to 38 countries across five continents.

Univision Communications recently donated 57 Latin American works of art to the Frost Art Museum. This gift includes the work of over 40 artists from Latin America and the United States. The opening reception is Saturday, September 23 and will be on view during Art Basel Week in Miami. 

Vehicles for Change, in partnership with EcoMedia, will award four cars to low-income, qualified recipients by the end of August.

The Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events will host auditions for ChicagoMade 2017 on October 28th. The audition provides Chicagoland based artists and bands the opportunity to showcase their work live in front of A&R executives from major and independent record labels.  

AT&T  partnered with the Human Rights Campaign to launch the first-ever “Live Proud on Campus” scholarship contest. From August 21st to September 22nd, college students 18 and over can submit a video pitch describing an LGBT-supportive project they’d like to see in place at their schools.

Registration is open for this year’s Women’s Entrepreneurship Day Organization to be held on November 17th at the United Nations, New York City.

Keep America Beautiful launched the “How Will You … End Littering?” Video Contest for students in grades 9-12. Entries will be accepted from August 21st through October 6th. 

Rare launched the Center for Behavior & the Environment, a new initiative aimed at linking behavioral science experts with on-the-ground practices, on August 22nd.

To honor their 20th year, the Chester County Fund for Women and Girls will host Community Fest on October 14th, a celebration of the nonprofit’s commitment to improving the lives of women and girls.

For its fourth edition, Center Stage will bring five contemporary music and theater ensembles from Egypt and Ukraine to tour in the U.S. between July and December 2018. 

Wayne State University’s Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences will offer free immunizations from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on August 26 to children 18 years old and younger. There will be some vaccines available for adults as well.
