The North Carolina Department of Information Technology was awarded a $3.9 million federal grant to upgrade and enhance 911 systems across the state. North Carolina is one of 34 states and two tribal nations receiving grants from the $109 million 911 Grant Program.

The Winston-Salem Foundation’s Black Philanthropy Initiative awarded $25,000 in grants supporting programs improving the lives of African Americans in the area of advancing racial equity in education. Grants were awarded to John F. Kennedy High School, the Winston-Salem Preparatory Academy, the Winston-Salem Urban League, and others.

The American Heart Association named Angela and Matthew Edwards as co-chairs for the 27th Annual Winston-Salem Heart and Stroke Walk on Sunday, September 29th. At Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, Dr. Angela Edwards is an Associate Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and Dr. Matthew Edwards is Professor and Chair of the Department of Vascular and Endovascular surgery.
Hall Waddell served on the Community Foundation of Henderson County’s board of directors in the infancy stages and continued service in a variety of capacities from 1983 to 2010.
The Community Foundation of Henderson County named Hall and Sonja Waddell as the recipients for their 2019 leadership award.
Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity opened a second ReStore at the Weaverville Crossings shopping plaza.
