Immigration Equality received a $100,000 donation from Marriott International to expand the organization’s work providing free legal services to LGBTQ asylum seekers fleeing persecution in their countries of origin.

The latest Incubator Project class was selected by the Brooklyn Community Foundation and Brooklyn Creative League (BCL). The six selected nonprofits will each receive 18 months of rent-free coworking space at BCL, a $5,000 seed grant, and professional development support. The winners include BlackSpace, BUFU: By Us for Us, Documented, Incredible Credible Messengers, Rebellious Root, and The Women’s Organizing Network.
The Robert M Bennett & Marjie A Bennett Foundation donated $500,000 to the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) to fund the MDA’s free summer camps across the country for kids with neuromuscular diseases.
The Boston Foundation distributed its My Summer in the City grants, this year supporting 21 organizations. The programs funded by the grants will receive between $5,000 and $20,000 to support summer employment for young people between the ages of 13 and 18. The funded organizations included UMASS Boston Immigrant Student Program Summer Leadership Institute, Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston, The City School, Sociedad Latina, Bikes Not Bombs, and others.
If an MLB player hits a home run with one of these magenta balls during bonus time it means a extra $5,000 for the Little League.
T-Mobile will donate $250,000 or more to Little League Baseball and Softball. The donation is connected to this year’s MLB all-star week home run derby; a $250,000 donation is guaranteed and the total goes up an extra $1,000 per home run and $5,000 per magenta bonus ball home run—which would total more than $450,000 if players hit as many regulation home runs as they did at last year’s derby.
Artist Trust selected the 2019 Fellowship, Twining Humber, and SOLA Award recipients, a merit-based award providing funds to practicing professional artists in Washington State. The 13 Fellowship Award winners each receive $10,000, the two Twining Humber Award recipients also receive $10,000, and the three SOLA Award winners are given $3,000. To increase access to programs and services for LGBT residents, Community Foundation of Broward distributed seven grants totaling $379,000. Grantees include Equality Florida, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward, Keystone Halls, South Florida Institute of Aging, and others.
The Women & Girls Fund, a fund of the Northwest Connecticut Community Foundation, awarded a grant of $1,000 to Connecticut Women’s Education and Legal Fund to support the work of the Fund’s Connecticut Collective for Women & Girls.

A new chair, vice chair, and board member joined the American Horticultural Society. Erich Veitenheimer, who previously served as vice chair, is the new board chair. Terry Hayes replaced Veitenheimer as vice chair and Cindy Tyler joined the national board of directors.
Robert Aronson was elected chair of the board of directors of HIAS, the global Jewish nonprofit that protects refugees.

Two new co-chairs were elected to and five new board members joined The New York Women’s Foundation board of directors. Grainne McNamara and Yvonne Moore are the new co-chairs and the new board members are Mary Baglivo, Noorain Khan, Tomasita Luz Sherer, Haydee Morales, and Margarita Rosa.

The Center for Health and Gender Equity added Emily M. Leongini and Traci Slater-Rigaud to its board of directors in addition to appointing Deborah Arrindell the new board president. Arrindell replaces Pamela Barnes as president of the board of directors.

The National Network of Consultants to Grantmakers’ new resource, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Toolkit for Consultants to Grantmakers, is now available to the public. The DEI toolkit is a primer specifically designed to help philanthropy consultants guide organizations toward a greater awareness of DEI issues. A free copy is available for download here.

GameStop and Call of Duty Endowment have partnered again, as they have done annually since 2012, to help veterans by asking GameStop customers during the month of July to donate, round up their total, or trade-in for charity.
The Greater Philadelphia public is invited to help award the Philadelphia Foundation’s Key to Community Grants. Nine grants, totaling $1 million, will be awarded to the first, second, and third place organizations in three grant categories: Economic Prosperity (co-presented by Wells Fargo), The Opportunity Divide (co-presented by Comcast-NBCUniversal), and Community and Civic Engagement.
