Band Together, a Triangle-based organization that uses live music as a platform for social change, raised $2 million from the June 27 Michael Franti & Spearhead concert and StepUp Ministry partnership.
The Foundation for a Healthy High Point has awarded $50,400 to seven local nonprofits who focus on health and wellness. Awardees include: Alcohol and Drug Services of Guilford, Family Service of the Piedmont, Go Out For A Run, the Division for Health for the Guildford County, Department of Health and Human Services, Senior Resources of Guilford, Triad Health Project, and YWCA of High Point.
Golden LEAF awarded 20 Community-Based Grantsmaking Initiative (CBGI) grants totaling over $11.75 million to organizations in the Sandhills and Northeast prosperity zones.
SAFE Haven for Cats received a Lil Bub’s Big Fund for the ASPCA grant for $2,000 to support homeless pets that need special care or extra help getting adopted. The funding will offset costs associated with care and placement of cats that arrive at the shelter with physical deformities, birth defects, or wounds suffered from a disaster, accident, or abuse.

The Inter-Faith Council for Social Service (IFC) has selected Michael Reinke as their new executive director. After a nationwide search and applications from over 100 candidates, Michael was appointed by the Board of Directors to replace retiring executive director John Dorward. He will begin his leadership role at IFC on August 17.
The Lung Cancer Initiative of North Carolina named Adam Belanger, MD, Jeffery M. Clarke, MD, Sulochana D. Cherukuri, MD and Sarah Ellen Elza Stephens as its 2015-2016 Lung Cancer Research Fellows. The purpose of the program is to further the development of local lung cancer care and research across the state of North Carolina.

Rex Healthcare and Wake Health Services have partnered to provide a new home for the Rex Senior Health Center with enhanced care and expanded services for seniors in Southeast Raleigh and beyond.
The Methodist Home for Children has named 8 new board members for a four-year term which began July 1 and ends in 2019. Those named were: Allen Blackmon, Airen Blaine, Chris Brady, Rick Roeder, Jane Spicer, Linda Taylor, Jessica Vickers, and Richard Woods.

The Lupus Foundation of America, North Carolina Chapter (LFANC) will be hosting its 2015 Lupus Empowerment Workshops in Greensboro and Greenville on Saturday, Aug. 8. The 2015 Lupus Empowerment Series is an eight-city series of educational workshops that will provide individuals affected by lupus with methods for not only living, but also thriving.
