Rothko Chapel received a $2,000,000 grant from Houston Endowment to fund comprehensive chapel restoration and campus expansion.

Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute selected the 2019–2020 grant recipients for PlayUSA, a program that supports instrumental music education projects across the country. Carnegie Hall selected 17 organizations, including 5 new partners—Chicago Jazz Philharmonic, Empire State Youth Orchestra, Hawaii Youth Symphony, Juneau Alaska Music Matters, and Trenton Music Makers—for a total of $500,000 in grants.

The Jewish Community Foundation of Los Angeles awarded three grants of $200,000 each to organizations combating local homelessness: Brilliant Corners, LA Family Housing, and The People Concern.

The Doris Duke Charitable Foundation selected the 16 physician scientists each receiving the foundation’s 2019 Clinical Scientist Development Award with grant funds of $495,000 over three years.

This is the second consecutive $300,000 donation from Sheehy Auto Stores to the American Heart Association.

Sheehy Auto Stores presented a $300,000 gift to the American Heart Association as part of the company’s community-wide effort raising funds and awareness for the charity.

Ringling College of Art and Design received a $1 million endowment grant from The Bernard Osher Foundation to support the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Ringling College and its mission to enrich the lives of mature adults in Sarasota and Manatee counties by providing outstanding educational programs.

In response to the Hurricane Barry and its impact on Southeast Louisiana, The Greater New Orleans Foundation selected nonprofit organizations providing ground assistance $30,000 in immediate assistance grants.

Ploughshares Fund awarded six grants to organizations building more just and inclusive policies related to current nuclear weapons issues. Awarded organizations include Beyond the Bomb, Centre for Feminist Foreign Policy, Federation of American Scientists, Lilly Adams, Peace Action Fund of New York State, and Women’s Action for New Directions Education Fund.

Community Catalyst’s board of directors selected Emily J. Stewart to serve as the organization’s new Executive Director.

As a member of the Common Impact Board of Directors, Pyla will support the organization’s board and leadership team in structuring and expanding its sector-wide and field building programs.

Common Impact appointed two new members to its board of directors: Bhavani Pyla and Michi Kono.

Laura Arnold, CNN host and author, joined the board of REFORM Alliance.

The Hazen Foundation added three new members to the board of trustees: Alberto Retana, Rukia Lumumba, and Lorella Praeli.

The Carter Center selected the eight U.S. recipients of the 2019-2020 Rosalynn Carter Fellowships for Mental Health Journalism. During their non-residential fellowship, fellows will pursue a range of mental health journalism projects.

Mike Doyle launched 1Million1s.org, a collective giving platform encouraging young people to build the habit of philanthropy from an early age.

The 2019 RaiseAChild benefit concert will be held on Saturday, August 17th in Hollywood’s Ford Ampitheathre. The benefit will include musical performances by Mary Lambert, Sophie B. Hawkins, Suzanne Vega, and Alejandro Aranda (scarypoolparty).

The National Sports Collectors Convention (NSCC) is pairing with HandBid to conduct an online charitable auction, with 100% of proceeds benefiting the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland & Northwest Indiana. The auction will take place at the 40th Annual NSCC in Chicago, July 31st– August 4th.
