The North Carolina Community Foundation began distributing $300,000 in grant awards to support information and public engagement as communities recover from Hurricane Florence. Awarded organizations include Enlace Latino, Core Sound Waterfowl Museum & Heritage Center, Support the Port, North Carolina Farmworkers Project, EducationNC, and others.
Healing Transitions received a $1 million pledge gift from the A.J. Fletcher Foundation. The gift marks the beginning of the nonprofit’s $11.75 million multi-year capital campaign, Recovery Can’t Wait.
The All For NC Fellowship is a 12-month program designed to provide funding, coaching and mentoring to young North Carolina residents who have a vision and plan that could contribute to a better life for North Carolina’s people and communities.
The Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation named the first members of its inaugural cohort of All For NC Fellows. The trustees (Danielle Adams, Stefania Arteaga, Cedric Harrison, and Lydia See) were each awarded $75,000 for their bold ideas to make a difference in the state and its communities.

The Barnabas Network received a $15,000 grant from Lincoln Financial Foundation. The award will fund the organization’s ongoing initiative providing impoverished families with furniture and household items.
Martin County Community Foundation awarded $7,900 in local grants and scholarships to organizations including the Boys & Girls Club of the Coastal Plain and the North Carolina Symphony Society.
The Community Foundation of Henderson County selected University of Georgia graduate student Jenny Sanders for the 2019 Pisgah Chapter of Trout Unlimited William L. Arbuckle Memorial Scholarship, which comes with a $1,000 gift.

Hillside New Tech High School senior and Kidznotes cellist Marcus Gee will perform alongside the LA Philharmonic in Edinburgh, Scotland as one of eighteen young musicians nationwide selected to participate in the YOLA National Institute July 28th through August 5th.
Prevent Child Abuse North Carolina earned two nonprofit organization awards: a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator and a Platinum Seal of Transparency from GuideStar.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society named Charlotte’s Rob Hope and Nancy Hamlin “National Man & Woman of the Year,” a distinction for the two individuals who raised the most money for cancer research.
