The Rockefeller Foundation to fund $6 million national expansion of educational partnership with Hamilton and The Gilder Lehrman Institute, JPMorgan Chase Foundation donating up to $500,000 to the OneOrlando Fund, Cummings Foundation held their $100k for 100 Grantee Celebration, celebrating $10 million dollars given to Greater Boston's nonprofits, Davis Phinney Foundation raised over $100,000 at Ride the Rockies to help those with Parkinson's, and more.

The Rockefeller Foundation will fund a $6 million national expansion of its educational partnership with Hamilton and The Gilder Lehrman Institute that allows for 100,000 inner city students nationwide to see the Tony-award winning show.

Cummings Foundation held their $100k for 100 Grantee Celebration, celebrating $10 million dollars given to Greater Boston’s nonprofits. Among those selected was The Possible Project, a non-profit organization that teaches high school students how to start and run their own businesses. 

6.20.16 UC Davis_revisedUC Davis received $1 million bequest from Distinguished Professor Emeritus Maury Hull and Karen Slakey Hull to endow a professorship in biomedical engineering with a research emphasis in orthopedics.

Barr Foundation approved 16 grants totaling $9.5 million.

The EOD Warrior Foundation received a $40,000 event title sponsorship from the Cecil DeMille Foundation for the 2016 EOD Undefeated Ride. 

Target donated $250,000 to the OneOrlando Fund in honor of Mercedez Flores and Luis Omar Ocasio-Capo, two Target team members who died during the Orlando shooting. The OneOrlando Fund will go to nonprofit organizations serving victims, their families and the community.

JPMorgan Chase Foundation and their employees are donating up to $500,000 to the OneOrlando Fund to support recovery efforts from the Orlando shooting.

Wells Fargo & Company donated $300,000 to the OneOrlando fund to address the needs of victims and the community in the wake of the Orlando shooting.

Ridesharing company Fare is donating $1 from every ride to Equality Florida to help Orlando victims and their families.

The Cigna Foundation will assist victims of the Orlando shooting, and their loved ones, through a $75,000 grant to the OneOrlando Fund  to assist those affected by the recent tragedy.

Huggies donated 22 million diapers and 22 million free Huggies wipes to the National Diaper Bank Network.

The Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation gifted $1 million to Barrow Neurological Foundation in continued support of the Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center.

The board of directors of Moses Taylor Foundation has approved its 2015-2016 fourth quarter grants, awarding a total of $628,078 to 10 organizations that promote health and wellness throughout Northeast Pennsylvania.

Staples partnered with United Way as part of the United Way’s annual Day of Action on June 21st to stuff more than 1,000 literacy kits.

The VWR Foundation distributed 13 grants totaling over $100,000 during the second quarter of 2016.  The Foundation supports organizations and programs that focus on research, health and well-being, and science education. 

Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auctions will helped raise awareness and funds for charities across the country during the inaugural Northeast Auction at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut.

The California Endowment awarded a $306,344 grant to the International Rescue Committee in Los Angeles, to help support the health and mental health needs of Syrian refugees resettling in California.

Woodbridge Group of Companies Charitable Foundation donated $25,000 to ALEH Negev Nahalat Eran Rehabilitation Village and $20,000 to the Gary Sinise Foundation.

The Finish Line Youth Foundation awarded $190,904 in 21 grants that will help organizations that focus on healthy lifestyles, youth development and special needs.

Santander Bank has donated more than $3.1 million in grants to 73 community-based organizations throughout its Northeastern U.S. footprint. The grants support initiatives in financial education, neighborhood revitalization, small business development, community services and affordable housing.

The Giving Institute reports that donations from America’s individuals, estates, foundations and corporations reached an estimated $373.25 billion in 2015, setting a record for the second year in a row.

U.S. DOT and Vulcan Inc. will fund and support all seven finalist cities in the Smart City Challenge.

Norwegian Airlines donated $723,480 to support UNICEF’s work for vulnerable children worldwide. 

Draper Richards Kaplan Foundation announced the launch of a new initiative to find, fund and support 100 new early-stage social entrepreneurs over the next five years.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies across the US donated nearly $350 million to community health initiatives in 2015, according to the company’s eighth annual Investing in America’s Health report.

America’s Essential Hospitals awarded Parkland Health & Hospital System the association’s 2016 Gage Award for quality.

The FFA held the 2016 Washington Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C. focused on developing leadership skills and creating community service plans to make a difference in their home communities.

Zakat Foundation of America launched a program with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency to repair and reconstruct 500 destroyed or severely damaged homes in the Gaza Strip.

The FSH Society, a nonprofit that supports research and education for facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD), held the first World FSHD Day on June 20th. 6.23.2016 Davis Phinney Foundation_RevisedDavis Phinney Foundation raised over $100,000 at this year’s Ride the Rockies to help those with Parkinson’s improve their daily lives. 

NEA Foundation named Dr. Robert Adams, Jr. and Jessica Wechter to the Foundation’s leadership team.

Ameriprise Financial, Inc. employees, advisors and clients volunteered to package and prepare meals for 250 hunger-relief nonprofits across the country. 

Arab Community Center for Economic and Social Services was selected by the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan as the recipient of the 2016 Richard F. Huegli Award for Program Excellence.

William J. Fishlinger has been elected Chairman of the National Board of the Diabetes Research Institute Foundation (DRIF). A member of the board since 2008, Fishlinger formerly served in the position of Treasurer and also chaired the DRIF’s Finance Committee.

Construction begins next month on the Chanda Plan Foundation Patient Centered Medical Home for people with long-term physical disabilities. The clinic is expected to open in January 2017.

6.24.16 New Story Charity_RevisedElvis Dumervil of the Baltimore Ravens is working with New Story Charity to build 58 homes in Haiti for victims of the 2010 earthquake.

Dow Chemical Company and CH2M are partnering with the Smithsonian Science Education Center to selected 34 teachers from five states to participate in the 2016 Dow-CH2M Smithsonian Teacher Scholar Program. The six-day program is designed to heighten STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) teachers’ ability to inspire and enlighten their students.

6.24.16 Foundation for Global Sports Development_RevisedThe Foundation for Global Sports Development will recognize Anita DeFrantz with their prestigious Humanitarian Award. Anita broke down barriers in sport and paved the way for youth to enter the sporing community. The award ceremony will be held at the Grand Hyatt Rio de Janeiro on August 6th. 
 
The League of American Orchestras appointed Sarah E. Kelly to the position of vice president for development. 
 
Heiner Baumann has stepped down as Director of Global Programs at the Barr Foundation, she will be joining Precision Agriculture for Development as the Managing Director.

Urban Institute in collaboration with the Center for Law and Social Policy and the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities is hosting a discussion on how state and federal government can improve access to work support programs for low-income families on June 28th.

UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Michigan is seeking proposals to fund programs that educate and encourage the public to quit smoking and avoid tobacco use, and help eliminate exposure to secondhand smoke. Michigan-based nonprofit organizations and Federally Qualified Health Centers may apply.

6.23.16 Stand Up 2 Cancer_RevisedStand Up To Cancer will stage its fifth biennial televised fundraising special on Friday, September 9th. The special will broadcast simultaneously on ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC and 45 other networks. 

Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization will host a benefit party celebrating musician and mesothelioma victim, Warren Zevon, at Mr. Musichead Gallery in Hollywood on July 7th.

Blue Earth will hold it’s Collaborations for Cause conference May 5th-6th in Seattle next year.

The Ruderman Family Foundation has opened the nomination period for its international Ruderman Prize in Inclusion. Five individual $50,000 awards will be given to companies and organizations that operate innovative programs and provide services that foster the full inclusion of people with disabilities.  

Food Lion is partnering with customers to help fight summer hunger through its Food Lion Feeds Reusable Bag campaign. With the purchase of each bag, Food Lion Feeds will donate the equivalent of six meals to Feeding America and its participating food banks.

Armanino will host its 5th annual Nonprofit Symposium this July in San Francisco. The event will focus on how nonprofit finance leaders should rethink their concept of “sustainability” to create a more flexible and efficient finance teams.
