More than 500 New York City young professionals and philanthropists came together to raise over $240,000 at the annual Rising Leaders Council New York Cares Soirée to support volunteer endeavors the city.

With a donation of $20.5 million and three new Global Programs the H&M Foundation makes a new strong commitment to long-lasting improvements in education, clean water, and women’s economic empowerment.

University of Southern California Trustee and alumna Shelly Nemirovsky ’85 and her husband, Ofer, have made a gift of $15 million to endow and name a residential college at USC Village.

Niagara University received a gift from the estate of the late Rose Bente Lee Ostapenko. The gift, which will exceed $4.1 million, will be used for several university projects and initiatives.

Rise Against Hunger (formerly Stop Hunger Now) has added two additions to senior management to support impact growth and global operations: Peggy Shriver has been named Chief Development Officer (CDO) and Larry Shepherd has been named as the organization’s first Chief Operating Officer (COO).

The Ellen MacArthur Foundation in partnership with leading global innovation firm NineSigma, launched the Circular Materials Challenge to make all plastic packaging recyclable. Solution providers are competing for up to $1 million in grants to be shared equally by up to five winners. Winners of the challenge will also have access to The New Plastics Economy Innovation Accelerator, a 12-month program offering exclusive connections with industry experts, commercial guidance, feedback on user and scalability requirements, advice on performance expectations, and entry to innovation labs for testing and development.

On June 6, The Gordon Parks Foundation will host its Annual Awards Dinner and Auction celebrating Parks’ rich legacy and honoring those that continue to make an impact in the performing and visual arts and humanitarianism.
