Kraft Heinz launches “Feed Your Family, Feed The World,” to benefit Rise Against Hunger, the Northern Virginia-based Beta Nu and Epsilon Zeta-member Boules of the Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity present the Legacy Award to NAACP President and CEO Cornell William Brooks, Council on Foundations names new leadership to its Board of Directors, and more.

The Northern Virginia-based Beta Nu and Epsilon Zeta-member Boules of the Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity presented the Legacy Award, a monetary donation of $20,000, to NAACP President and CEO Cornell William Brooks in support of the organization’s continued fight for equality and justice.

CollaborateMD donated more than $100,000 in the past year to local charities to assist and help build up their local communities. 

Pacific Gas and Electric Company is providing a $400,000 grant which will help students build portable solar units, participate in local sustainability projects and advance energy equity globally. 

PR Management Corp., New England’s largest Panera Bread franchisee, donated a total of $275,000 to five New England food banks as part of their Feeding America initiative. 

The Melanoma Research Alliance is providing more than $8.5 million in new grants for melanoma research. The grants consist of 34 new research awards to 28 institutions in six countries. 

Sword & Plough was announced by FedEx as the grand prize winner of the 5th annual FedEx Small Business Grant Contest. Sword & Plough will receive a $25,000 grant plus $7,500 in FedEx Office® print and business services. 

The Cigna Foundation awarded a $94,800 World of Difference grant to Novant Health Foundation Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina for Project CARE, the Congregational Approach to Risk Reduction and Empowerment. Project CARE will work to lower the incidence of diabetes through comprehensive wellness services and lifestyle modifications to underserved individuals in high-risk areas of the city.

Wells Fargo & Company a total of $350,000 in donations for three local nonprofits intended to help revitalize Columbia, South Carolina neighborhoods through the Wells Fargo NeighborhoodLIFT® program.

Surgeons of Hope will host its annual ‘One Night for Hope’ Gala on Thursday, May 4, 2017 from 7:00-11:00 p.m. at the Essex House in New York City. This year’s gala, emceed by CNN Entertainment Reporter Chloe Melas, will honor American composer Mr. Phillip Morris Glass and include a fashion show by Henry Picado of ESTE & CHLO. The Gala will aim to raise awareness and money for life-threatening pediatric congenital heart conditions that require emergency care and surgery where access to this care is not readily available.

Employee volunteers from Domtar Corporation as part of the corporation’s partnership with First Book visited the Marathon County Head Start Program’s Barrington Center in Wisconsin today to donate and read new books to the school’s children.

Rosemarie Havranek and Ray Sidney have joined the Fannie and John Hertz Foundation’s Board of Directors.

Nearly 6,000 Comcast NBCUniversal employees and their families, friends and community partners volunteered at 57 schools and community organizations around Colorado as part of the 16th annual Comcast Cares Day. In addition, nearly 7,000 employees, family members, and more volunteered at 14 schools and community organizations around Utah.

Five high school students from Maine, Brian Austin, Nathan Kiesman and Noble Mushtak of Marshwood High School, James Newkirk of Telstar High School, and Tyler Hansen of South Portland High School were selected as winners of the 2017 Tyler Technologies Maine App Challenge.

The Council on Foundations named new leadership to its Board of Directors, as well as several new members. Javier Alberto Soto, President and CEO of The Miami Foundation, has begun a two-year term as the Board’s Chair and Jamie Merisotis, President and CEO of the Lumina Foundation, as its Vice Chair. Javier succeeds Sherry Magill, President of the Jessie Ball duPont Fund, who served as Board Chair since 2014.

Kraft Heinz launched “Feed Your Family, Feed The World,” on April 25. Through participation at retail stores and on social media, select Kraft Heinz brands will donate up to 20,000 meals each day to Rise Against Hunger. The program runs through May 15.

The Girl Scouts–Arizona Cactus-Pine Council received a $25,000 challenge grant from T.W. Lewis Foundation where for every new gift made at $1,000 and above, the T.W Lewis Foundation will provide an additional $1,000 to the Girl Scouts up to $25,000. The challenge grant funds will help underwrite camperships for girls in the foster care system and support the growth of our social impact programs in Maricopa County, Arizona. 

Chem-Dry in partnership with Best Friends Animal Society is helping to raise funds toward Chem-Dry’s goal of donating $25,000 to Best Friends. Efforts will support finding a safe, healthy home for all shelter pets and end homelessness among pets. 

In recognition of World Malaria Day, ExxonMobil is renewing support for local and global organizations working to end malaria around the world. ExxonMobil’s malaria initiative focuses on advancing science, providing training and building leadership capacity for health workers, as well as delivering lifesaving tools and health services to people at risk of infection. 

Regions Bank, to support the charitable work of the upcoming Regions Tradition, will from May 1st to May 31st donate $1 to Children’s of Alabama for a total gift of up to $50,000 each time someone uses some of Regions digital services.  

Catholic Charities of Baltimore is hosting a celebration in West Baltimore titled titled “Unity in the Community” on May 6th. The event is focused on education, employment, public safety and access to healthy food.
