Vaccine Ambassadors received a $1,000 grant from UNC Alpha Phi Omega. A check was presented to Vaccine Ambassadors at Alpha Phi Omega’s Charity Night on March 28th in Chapel Hill.

Duke University received $15 million from the A. James & Alice B. Clark Foundation to establish a new undergraduate program focused on leadership, service, and business and entrepreneurship at the Pratt School of Engineering.

The Swain County United Gift Fund has awarded more than $35,000 in grants to 17  local nonprofits, including Big Brothers/ Big Sisters of Western NC, Bryson City Food Pantry and more.

1,453 people attended the Durham Rescue Mission’s Annual Easter Community Dinner. 359 volunteers at the Mission distributed 1,137 Easter baskets, 689 free bags of groceries, 6,200 articles of clothing, and served 950 meals.

Charlotte resident Kristen Schottenheimer recently joined a group of Alzheimer’s advocates to turn North Carolina purple for Alzheimer’s. Hosted by the Alzheimer’s Association – Western Carolina Chapter and Alzheimer’s Association – Eastern North Carolina Chapter, the NC State Advocacy Day 2018 took place at the state capitol in Raleigh on March 22nd and included meetings with state legislators and an advocacy session.

Lisa Dale was promoted to Regional Director  of 24 Foundation‘s Carolina’s division. A member of the 24  Foundation fundraising and recruitment team since 2016, Dale has more than 30 years of sales and promotional experience.

Coastal Credit Union Foundation is now accepting grant applications for their 3rd annual Power of Sharing event.  This year’s goal is to fund organizations that have projects or programs that will specifically help the financially vulnerable or contribute to education. The deadline to submit an application is Monday, April 16th.

The City of Raleigh Arts Commission is accepting nominations for the 2018 Medal of Arts awards. The deadline for nominations is Thurs, April 19th.

The Peacehaven Farm Walk will take place from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Sunday, April 22 in Whitsett.

As part of the 2017-2018 Durham Independent Dance Artists  season, Ramya Kapadia will perform Vande Mataram on April 29th at 4:30 pm & 7:30 pm at The Walltown Children’s Theatre in Durham.

SECU Family House at UNC Hospitals will hold its 10th Anniversary Golf Tournament & Birthday Party on Friday, April 13th. Gary Williams, popular host of Golf Channel’s Morning Drive, will emcee both fun-filled events at Chapel Hill Country Club.

The Columbus County Community Foundation is currently accepting grant applications for projects funded from its community grantmaking fund. Funds are available for nonprofit organizations that serve general charitable needs in Columbus County. Applications are available online beginning March 30th. The deadline for submitting applications is noon May 1st.

The Durham Arts Council (DAC) has opened the application cycle for its annual arts support grants featuring the DAC Season Grant and the new Durham Arts Catalyst Grant categories. Online applications can be accessed through the Grants and Resources page on the Durham Arts Council website. The deadline for the Season Grant and Arts Catalyst grant categories is April 18th.

Join Alliance Medical Ministry at Lynnwood Brewing Concern on Tuesday, April 10th, from 6:00-9:00 p.m. for charity pint night. Proceeds raised will support Alliance Medical Ministry and the Community Garden. 

AFP Triad will hold their monthly meeting on Tuesday, April 24th at the Paul J. Ciener Botanical Garden in Kernersville. Kathryn Gamble will present the talk “Setting Up and Closing the Big Gift.”

Piedmont Farm Animal Refuge will hold a series of free community mural workshops on April 14th, 22nd, and 28th from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. All ages and experience levels are welcomed and encouraged. The mural will focus on farm animal welfare and the benefits of a plant-based diet.

The North Carolina Community Foundation is accepting applications for a  new NCCF Disaster Relief & Resilience Scholarship, established to support students affected by Hurricane Matthew. This scholarship opportunity is for students who live in Fair Bluff, Kinston, Lumberton, Princeville, Seven Springs and Windsor.  Applications are due April 30.

The JLC Working Lunch – the Junior League of Charlotte , Inc’s (JLC) spring luncheon – will take place Thursday, April 12th, from Noon – 1 p.m. at The Charlotte Marriott City Center. The featured speaker will be New York Times best-selling author Gretchen Rubin.

The next Nonprofit Communicators Event, Speaking From the Heart: A Volunteer Communications Primer, will take place Thursday, April 19th, from 12:00-1:30 at SHIFT NC in Durham. The featured speaker will be Kathy Hughes Langfield,  the Volunteer Engagement Director of Special Olympics North Carolina.

The Touring Theatre of North Carolina will present “The Memory of All That: A Cabaret of Gershwin Songs” from April 12th-15th at Triad Stage in Greensboro. Tickets are available now.

The Institute for Emerging Issues at NC State University today announced the selection of Catawba, Chowan, Randolph and Rockingham Counties for participation in KidsReadyNC, a new, 18-month initiative designed to help selected Tier 1 or Tier 2 communities strengthen leadership capacity within their local early childhood development systems.
