On Friday, March 25th, the Durham Rescue Mission held its Annual Easter Community Dinner. Easter baskets were given to at-risk children and 10,000 pieces of clothing for all, among other gifts.
On Tuesday, March 29th, the Alzheimer’s Association Eastern North Carolina Chapter held its Volunteer Open House, where attendees learned how to get involved in chapter activities, programs, and advocacy. Refreshments were served and resources provided.
On Wednesday, March 23rd, at the Mint Museum Uptown, student dancers performed 3,000-year-old classical Indian dances. Rhythmic movements told the story of ancient India through costumes, dance dramas and music. The event’s signature dance, “Unity in Diversity” featured internationally acclaimed performer Dr. Maha Gingrich and group.
On March 28th, 2016, the North Carolina Harm Reduction Coalition received a report of its 2500th drug overdose reversal using the opioid antagonist, naloxone. As of March 29th, 2016, the total number of reversals stands at 2,503.
