Northwest Area Foundation made 91 grants in the fourth-quarter of 2018. Grantees included American Indian Community Housing Organization (AICHO) and Rural Community Development Resources (RCDR).
The Isaac Bruce Foundation and the Buddy Fund partnered to fund a weight room renovation at Gateway STEM High School. The donation was matched by the NFL Foundation for a total donation of $10,000.
The Civic Life Project received a grant of $6,000 from The Buchanan Fund, a fund of the Northwest Connecticut Community Foundation.
The Enterprise Rent-A-Car Foundation is pledging $2 million to fund 40 community tree-planting events in neighborhoods across the United States. The program, called the Enterprise Urban Tree Initiative, was kicked off in fall 2018 and will continue throughout spring 2020. This initiative is in addition to the 50 Million Tree Pledge, Enterprise’s ongoing partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation.
Jonas Philanthropies awarded a five-year $250,000 grant to support Terra Firma, a first-of-its-kind medical-legal clinic committed to addressing the complex medical, mental health and legal needs of unaccompanied immigrant children in the U.S.

Bridgestone Retail Operations (BSRO) announced it raised nearly $2.8 million to support Boys & Girls Clubs of America through its Driving Great Futures initiative in 2018. In the fourth consecutive year of its national partnership, BSRO doubled what it raised in 2017, bringing the total funds raised since 2015 to $6.6 million.
USTA Foundation, the national charitable arm of the United States Tennis Association, surpassed $40 million in total giving to tennis and education programs and under-resourced youth since its inception, with over $40.2 million distributed.

TheDream.US is partnering with with Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, Georgia to provide scholarships to qualified DREAMers. The new partnership with Oglethorpe is the first TheDream.US partnership with a Georgia college or university as well as the first with any institution in a “locked out” state, where DREAMers cannot get in-state tuition or state financial aid.
