Northwest Area Foundation made 91 grants in the fourth-quarter of 2018. Grantees included American Indian Community Housing Organization (AICHO) and Rural Community Development Resources (RCDR).

The Isaac Bruce Foundation and the Buddy Fund partnered to fund a weight room renovation at Gateway STEM High School. The donation was matched by the NFL Foundation for a total donation of $10,000.

The Civic Life Project received a grant of $6,000 from The Buchanan Fund, a fund of the Northwest Connecticut Community Foundation.

The Enterprise Rent-A-Car Foundation is pledging $2 million to fund 40 community tree-planting events in neighborhoods across the United States. The program, called the Enterprise Urban Tree Initiative, was kicked off in fall 2018 and will continue throughout spring 2020. This initiative is in addition to the 50 Million Tree PledgeEnterprise’s ongoing partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation.

Jonas Philanthropies awarded a five-year $250,000 grant to support Terra Firma, a first-of-its-kind medical-legal clinic committed to addressing the complex medical, mental health and legal needs of unaccompanied immigrant children in the U.S.

Henry Ford III has been elected to serve as a member of the Ford Foundation’s Board of Trustees.

Bridgestone Retail Operations (BSRO) announced it raised nearly $2.8 million to support Boys & Girls Clubs of America through its Driving Great Futures initiative in 2018. In the fourth consecutive year of its national partnership, BSRO doubled what it raised in 2017, bringing the total funds raised since 2015 to $6.6 million.

USTA Foundation, the national charitable arm of the United States Tennis Association, surpassed $40 million in total giving to tennis and education programs and under-resourced youth since its inception, with over $40.2 million distributed.

San Diego Grantmakers appointed Debbie McKeon as President and CEO. McKeon previously served as the Executive Vice President and COO of the Council of Michigan Foundations.

Barrow Neurological Foundation appointed four members to its Board of Trustees: Richard “Todd” Davis, Cheryl Najafi, Stacy L. Tucker and David S. Van Denburgh.

Mending Kids held “Imagine,” its seventh annual Wings Gala & Awards Ceremony on Thursday, February 21st, at 6 p.m. at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles.  The event was sponsored by the Cusumano Family Foundation.

TheDream.US is partnering with with Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, Georgia to provide scholarships to qualified DREAMers. The new partnership with Oglethorpe is the first TheDream.US partnership with a Georgia college or university as well as the first with any institution in a “locked out” state, where DREAMers cannot get in-state tuition or state financial aid.

Arena Stage Artistic Director Molly Smith and Executive Producer Edgar Dobie will recognize Lindsey Brittain Collins as an Emerging Leader at the 2019 Arena Stage Annual Gala. The Gala will be held on Tuesday, May 21st, at the Mead Center for American Theater in Washington, DC.

On February 22nd, the National Hispanic Media Coalition honored extraordinary Latino and non-Latino artists, executives, a film company and a groundbreaking television series at its 22nd annual Los Angeles Impact Awards Gala at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel.

Fifteen registered nurses at Parkland Health & Hospital System are among those being honored as 2018 Dallas/Fort Worth Great 100 Nurses. The program has been celebrating nursing excellence for 29 years, honoring nurses from all practice areas including acute care, sub-acute care, school nursing, nurse leaders, academics and more.

Brooklyn Community Foundation honored the top five social justice nonprofit organizations of 2019 with its $100,000 Spark Prize at the annual Spark Prize Breakfast on February 28th. The five winning organizations, The Campaign Against Hunger, Cypress Hills Child Care Corporation, Girls for Gender Equity, Red Hook Community Justice Center, and VOCAL-NY, were honored for their efforts to build equity and strength in their communities and take on Brooklyn’s most pressing challenges.

Composer Joan Tower will receive the League of American Orchestras‘ highest honor, the Gold Baton, at the League’s 74th National Conference in Nashville, June 3-5th.

Registration is now open for Advisors in Philanthropy‘s 2019 Conference in Washington, DC. The conference will be held May 22nd-24th at The Washington Marriott at Metro Center.

Twist Out Cancer is now accepting applications for Inspirations (anyone touched by cancer) and Artists to take part in its seventh annual Brushes with Cancer program in Chicago. Applications are due on Monday, April 1st.

Through this partnership of two of Miami’s most innovative art forms — and beloved institutions — the spring camp will create a dynamic cultural arts experience for children over five days, March 25th-29th.

MacArthur Foundation launched a new round of its 100&Change competition for a single $100 million grant to help solve one of the world’s most critical social challenges. 100&Change remains open to organizations and collaborations working in any field, anywhere in the world. Proposals must identify a problem and offer a solution that promises significant and durable change. Applications accepted online April 30th to August 6th.
