On February 2nd, the Durham Rescue Mission held a ceremony for the first of three new academic residence halls for Victory Program students at the Durham Rescue Mission. Sir Walter Wally was a VIP guest at the ceremony.
On January 28th, the North Carolina Harm Reduction Coalition received a report of its 2,000th drug overdose reversal using the opioid antagonist, naloxone. As of February 1st, the total number of reversals stands at 2,061.
Junior Achievement of Eastern North Carolina has been named by Junior Achievement USA® (JA-USA) as one of 17 Area offices nationwide that have earned a 2014-2015 Peak Performance Team Award for superior performance. Transitions LifeCare is nearing the end of a $6 million capital campaign, “Power of 10,” to build 10 additional rooms onto its existing Hospice Home. Construction is scheduled to begin in late spring.
On February 3rd at The Mint Museum Uptown, Belgian designer Jens Praet discussed his work, inspirations and new directions. Operation North State‘s supporters and volunteers are calling on North Carolina to help support its 2016 Top Shelf Fishin’ Festival Schedule. The festivals will enable 650 wounded warriors and disabled veterans, and their respective caregivers if needed, to enjoy a day of fishing on North Carolina’s premier fisheries.
