The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation today announced an initial five-year, $75 million investment that seeks to reduce over-incarceration by changing the way America thinks about and uses jails. Follow the link for more information.

A $2 million gift from University of Colorado alumnus and Saudi Arabian businessman Zuhair Fayez will enable the expansion and extension of an innovative exchange program that builds cultural understanding among graduate architecture students from the University of Colorado Denver and Dar Al-Hekma University, a women’s college in Saudi Arabia.

Following the exciting announcement of a $60 million dollar pledge from the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation to Miami Children’s Health Foundation, Jack and Barbara Nicklaus,  will also serve as the Chairs of the Together For the Children Campaign which has a goal to fundraise $150 million dollars through 2017. 

Danville Regional Foundation (DRF)  announced that God’s Storehouse has received the 2015 B.R. Ashby, M.D. Award for Outstanding Community Service. This award, in the amount of a $50,000 general operating grant, honors outstanding community service in the region by a nonprofit organization based on success in helping needy families and individuals overcome significant challenges.

The National Hispanic Media Coalition (NHMC) announced its first round of honorees for the 18th Annual NHMC Impact Awards Gala, which was held on Friday, February 20.The NHMC Impact Awards Gala recognizes the outstanding achievements and contributions to positive portrayals of Latinos in media. Bankers Healthcare Group, a provider of financing solutions for healthcare professionals, recently donated more than 150 pieces of furniture valued at $35,000 to Food for the Poor, an international relief and development organization based in Broward County, South Florida.

The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) was gifted $250,000 from Disney, together with Disney ABC Television Group and 6abc.
