Habitat for Humanity of Craven County was awarded a grant for $15,000 from Community Affordable Housing Equity Corporation for the purchase of safety scaffolding for their home construction projects.

The board of advisors of the Catawba Valley Community Foundation pledged $28,440 in local grant awards from its community grantmaking fund.

Foundation For The Carolinas named the recipients of its first round of grants from its Hurricane Florence Response Fund, giving more than $750,000 to 20 organizations focused on relief, recovery or rebuilding assistance for Hurricane Florence-impacted areas in North Carolina and South Carolina.

Bridge II Sports of Durham was one of 20 nonprofits chosen by GSK employees around the country to receive $10,000 on Giving Tuesday. 

Emily Millis-Hiatt, a resident of High Point and alumna of High Point University, established an endowment for High Point University’s Pro Bono Physical Therapy Clinic.

The Johnston County Public Schools (JCPS) department of Academic Innovation awarded $500 grants to 32 students and teachers to use in innovative practices in their classrooms and schools. This is the first year that JCPS has offered this type of grant to its students. Proposals from students ranged from wanting money to buy drones to simulate how bees pollinate flowers to new audio/visual equipment to improve a school’s news broadcast.

Thanks to a grant from the state’s Clean Water Management Trust Fund and matching private donations, Alamance Battleground State Historic Site will soon acquire two adjacent tracts of land that will further preserve this important site.

A new fund established by Fin and Nancy Gaddy of Manteo with the North Carolina Community Foundation will enable American children who have lost a parent in combat to attend YMCA Camp Sea Gull or Camp Seafarer. 

The American Heart Association is funding five new research grants in the Triad, totaling more than $1.6 million.

The Durham Rescue Mission is in need of 12,000 new and unwrapped toys and games for the boys and girls attending the Durham Rescue Mission’s Annual Christmas Community Dinner and Toy Give-away at noon on December 22nd at 1201 E Main Street in Durham.

IMG College and the American Heart Association’s 2018 Winston-Salem Heart & Stroke Walk are providing an opportunity for community members to donate new sports balls to help children at Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools get active in order to live more heart-healthy lives.
