12-12-16-miles-for-moe-fund_revisedOn Wednesday, November 30th, representatives of the Miles for Moe Fund of the Northwest Connecticut Community Foundation presented a check for $15,000 to Camp MOE to support camperships and camp needs.

Worldreader, a San Francisco based nonprofit dedicated to transforming the lives of people in low-income countries through access to digital books and reading material, has achieved a $15 million fundraising goal.

Artist Trust awarded Peter Mountford the 2016 Gar LaSalle Storyteller Award. The Gar LaSalle Storyteller Award is an unrestricted award of $10,000 given to a Washington State fiction writer whose work demonstrates excellence in storytelling.

Kosair Charities Advisory Council has given a total of $200,000 in grants to five Louisville non-profit organizations: Nativity Academy, La Casita Center, Commonwealth Theatre Center, Bridge Kids International, and Lifehouse Maternity Home.

In celebration of The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign, rock band Blues Traveler released their take on the Christmas hymn “Go Tell It on the Mountain,” with 100% of net proceeds from every download of the song benefiting The Salvation Army.

The award was presented to Parkland at the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association Scientific Sessions on November 14th in New Orleans, LA.

Help For Children announced the appointment of four new members to its Global Board of Directors. Joining the Board are Don Steinbrugge, Jeffrey Bronheim, Lucia Arienti and Nicholas Halaby.

Larkin Street Youth Services will host several events for and about homeless youth this month, including the Winter Solstice Festival on December 23rd.

On December 13th, the Association of Fundraising Professionals Fort Lauderdale/Broward will host its Annual Membership Meeting and Holiday Breakfast in order to install the 2017 Board and network in the holiday spirit.

The Chester County Fund for Women and Girls’ 2017 Core Grants Application Cycle began and will award $213,000 total in grants this year. The deadline to apply is January 13th, 2017.

The American Council of Trustees and Alumni will expand its Fund for Academic Renewal, a program to help donors make transformative gifts to higher education. The expanded Fund for Academic Renewal will give donors a more powerful voice in determining the direction that U.S. colleges and universities take in the future.

The annual Hispanicize Event opened its call for nominations for the 2017 Positive Impact Awards that recognize unsung Latino and Latina heroes whose service to others has made a significant difference in their communities.
