The Community Blood Center of the Carolinas (CBCC) has awarded seven 
$1,000 scholarships to area students through its Sixth Annual “Students Saving Summer” scholarship program. Throughout the summer, area high school and college students partnered with CBCC to hold summertime blood drives to help meet the needs of local patients.
GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) and Triangle Community Foundation announced the GSK IMPACT Award Winners in a ceremony at GSK’s Research Triangle Park facility. Ten local nonprofits earned $40,000 each in recognition of their contributions to a healthier Triangle region.
DonorsChoose.org and Google have gifted Mrs. Joann Blumenfeld of Dillard Drive Middle School with $2,400 for a special needs request. Google will also fund more than $90,000 worth of projects posted by N.C. teachers through the DonorsChoose.org competition.
Platinum Corral, the parent company of 26 Golden Corral franchises, has announced a five-year donation of $25,000 to ProStart, a career and technical education program that focuses on teaching culinary arts and restaurant management fundamentals to secondary school students in all 50 states.
N.C. GreenPower launched a pilot program to provide matching grants for the installation of a solar PV array at schools, providing clean, green renewable energy in North Carolina. The State Employees Credit Union Foundation is partnering to provide a matching challenge grant to increase the solar PV systems from 3 kW to 5 kW.
The Community Foundation of Western North Carolina (CFWNC) approved grants totaling $1,335,160 to nonprofits across the region. The awards were made in CFWNC’s focus areas, with more than $1 million in People in Need grants going to nonprofits serving economically-disadvantaged populations across the Foundation’s 18-county service area. These grants were supported by grant partners including the Janirve Legacy Fund, CFWNC affiliate funds and fundholders.

The Women’s Fund of Winston-Salem celebrated ten years of improving the lives of women and girls in Forsyth County at its Annual Luncheon on Tuesday, November 17th. The theme of the luncheon was “Passion. Power. Purpose” to highlight the Fund’s philanthropic giving to improve the community over the past decade.

The Partnership for a Healthier America , which works with the private sector and Honorary Chair First Lady Michelle Obama to make healthier choices easier, announced that North Carolina State University has completed its three-year commitment to adopt guidelines around nutrition, physical activity,and programming
On November 17th, Raleigh Nonprofit Communicators hosted speakers Dawn Crawford of BC/DC Ideas and Heather Yandow of Third Space Studio to discuss “Communications Cinderella Story: How to Dress Data Up for the Ball.”
On Wednesday, November 18th, the Durham Rescue Mission held a ribbon-cutting to celebrate the completion of renovations to the New Beginnings building. The renovations include a 40-bed dormitory for emergency men’s shelter, bathrooms and showers, a recreation room, a laundry room, office spaces, and a chapel as well as the addition of an elevator in the 3-story educational wing of the church building.
On November 20th, the Diversity Committee of the Association of Fundraising Professionals Triangle Chapter held a discussion on maintaining authenticity and learning new ways to remain ethical when engaging with donors or prospects.
Fifteen State Government employees were honored with 2015 Governor’s Awards for Excellence. The Awards for Excellence were presented to honorees at a ceremony held at the North Carolina Museum of History in Raleigh, hosted by the Office of State Human Resources and sponsored by the State Employees’ Credit Union Foundation.
The Touring Theatre of North Carolina hosted the G(So) Silent Auction at their Jingle Bell Jazz event on Sunday, November 22nd. All proceeds will benefit local arts and educational theatre at the Touring Theatre.
The 2015 Leadership North Carolina (LNC) Governor’s Award presentation 
was held on October 29th. Members of the Board of Directors, members of the Marian Phillips Leadership Circle, and friends of LNC were in attendance. The recipient of the 2015 LNC Governor’s Award is Governor Jim Martin (Governor 1985-1993).
SearStone, a continuing care retirement community in Cary, has partnered with Davis Drive Middle School students to help the sick and wounded as part of a global health initiative. Davis Drive’s Odyssey of the Mind team is helping to recycle old sheets donated by the Umstead Hotel and Spa and turning them into bandages and arm slings.
On November 10th, Lenovo announced a partnership with Dress for Success Triangle and will assist unemployed and underemployed female veterans in the Triangle as they pursue meaningful employment. To launch the partnership, Lenovo sponsored a clothing drive with Dress for Success Triangle and the U.S. Military Veterans Foundation, which gathered professional clothing for transitioning military men and women, both active and veteran, who are seeking to rejoin the workforce.
On November 19th, the Grateful Living Porch Sale, a quarterly shopping event hosted by The Green Chair Project, offered ready-to-be-used housewares and furniture, including vintage finds, antiques and even brand new accessories donated by local stores and designers. All proceeds directly benefit triangle families in need.

The Center for Creative Leadership, a global provider of leadership development, will offer Leadership Essentials, a two-day leadership development program, on December 3rd to 4th in Charlotte. This program is designed for individuals working in youth-serving organizations.
The Orange County Arts Commission is accepting Fall 2015 arts grant applications until 5 pm on Tuesday, December 1st. Arts grants are available to nonprofit organizations, schools and individual artists. Fall arts grant categories are: Arts Program, Arts in Education, Arts in Education Coalition, and Artist Project.
Fathers Forever is holding a community service event from November 15th to 30th where churches, organizations, individuals, civic groups and organizations from the public and private sectors provide gently worn suits, dress shirts, sport coats and dress shoes to fathers in need.
Greenhill Center for N.C. Arts will present its 36th annual Winter Show holiday exhibition beginning December 6th, featuring works by 120 North Carolina artists.
Honeywell and NASA will bring their award-winning, hip-hop physics education program, FMA Live! Forces in Motion, to more than 40 public, private and military-connected middle schools, including middle schools in Fort Bragg, Rocky Mountain and Durham this week.
Herb & Felicia Gray will host the 4th Annual Gray Holiday Party at the Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts+Culture on December 12th. Proceeds will benefit the exhibitions, educational programmingn and community initiatives of the Center.

The Carolina Hurricanes’ Kids ‘N Community Foundation is accepting applications for its Game Changer grants. Fifteen organizations that have a record of serving children in need in the areas of education and/or health will be awarded grants from $5,000 to $15,000.
From November 18th to December 22nd, Food Lion will partner with customers in its more than 1,100 stores to donate food boxes or make a cash donation to the Food Lion Feeds “Holidays Without Hunger” campaign. All cash donations will benefit the Feeding America nationwide network of food banks, and food boxes will be donated directly to a local hunger-relief food bank or agency.
