On November 3rd, Toyota and VH1 Save The Music awarded $10,000 each in Keys + Kids grants to John Spry Community, Goudy Technology Academy, and Daniel Boone Elementary to provide musical instruments and equipment to each school. 

Le-Vel Brands, LLC donated $255,000 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation from the proceeds of its limited-edition National Breast Cancer Foundation Derma Fusion Technology, of which $5 from every purchase in October was earmarked for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

11-21-16-crystal-bridges-museum-of-american-art_revisedThe inaugural Don Tyson Prize was presented to the Archives of American Art (AAA), Smithsonian Institution, by Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art at a private luncheon in Washington, D.C. on October 2nd. AAA Director Kate Haw was presented with the $200,000 prize and award designed by Troy Anderson.

The Nonprofit Coordinating Committee of New York will award the three winners of the 2016 New York Community Trust Nonprofit Excellence Awards, a total of $60,000 and scholarships for the Columbia Business School Executive Education Programs in Social Enterprise. The winners are Jewish Board of Family and Children’s Services, Neighbors Link, and Per Scholas who will be honored for their management excellence at the Awards Presentation to be held on December 2nd at the New York Academy of Medicine.

Henry Schein, Inc. joined its Team Schein Members to donate more than $100,000 in cash and health care products to relief organizations working in impacted areas throughout the southeastern United States and the Caribbean.

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center celebrated 75 years of Making Cancer History from November 7th-14th, including remarks from Vice President Joe Biden and the creation of the Beau Biden Chair for Brain Cancer Research.

National Audubon Society President and CEO David Yarnold called on voters in Washington state to make history by passing the United States’ first statewide carbon tax, Initiative 732.

Matt Dillon and John C. McGinley walked the runway with models with Down syndrome at the Be Beautiful Be Yourself Fashion Show on November 12th, in Denver. The Global Down Syndrome Foundation awarded Frank Stephens the 2016 Quincy Jones Exceptional Advocacy Award.

For Veteran’s Day 2016, SimpleTire.com helped military veterans and their families by donating 5% of all sales for the day to Wounded Warriors Family Support.

Transwestern’s Mid-Atlantic region supported Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic by participating in the Adopt-A-Wish program in which they were paired with local wish kid Ruth, a 14-year-old from Virginia, with a hematologic disorder. Ruth’s wish was to visit Australia, where she toured the Sydney Opera House, relaxed on the beach and met a koala.

On November 14th, Women for Services for the UnderServed in association with Outside the Wire presented an evening of performance and dialogue featuring scenes from Euripides’ Medea in New York to discuss the relevance of the myth to lives today.

Friends of the Earth will accept $5 donations to advocate for the removal of bee-killing pesticides from supermarkets and the food system.

Gulf Coast Community Foundation will select 25 individuals to participate in the Gulf Coast Board Institute which will start in 2017 and the sessions will take place on January 20th, 27th, and February 3rd and 10th.

Evergreen Packaging and KidsGardening.org will accept entries for its third annual national Carton 2 Garden Contest until April 12th, 2017.  Contest winners will be selected based on their implementation of an innovative garden creation featuring creative and sustainable uses for repurposed milk and juice cartons.

The Chester County Fund for Women and Girls will join #Giving Tuesday on November 29th to raise money for its Girls Advisory Board to educate young women about the importance of philanthropy, community, and making a positive difference in the lives of others.  

College students will be able to volunteer with Projects Abroad’s three new alternative Spring break trips to Mexico, Belize, and Ghana in March, 2017.

The Fund for Trans Generations, based at Borealis Philanthropy, will accept Letters of Inquiry until December 2nd.
