Ronald McDonald House Charities of North Carolina will provide $84,000 in grants to a dozen non-profits and organizations across the state that are “dedicated to making an immediate and positive impact on children who need it most in the areas of health care, education, and social services.”
The Komen Affiliate cancer study is the next step in supporting the organization’s ultimate goal of reducing breast cancer deaths by 50% in the U.S. by 2026.
Susan G. Komen North Carolina Triangle to the Coast received a $150,000 challenge grant from the SECU Foundation for a two-year initiative to collect data in support of a new community-based model for breast cancer care. Rocky Mount and Charlotte were selected as pilot sites.
The recent sale of LORD Corporation, a privately-owned global manufacturing company based in Cary, triggered the distribution of more than $1 billion to four organization, including $261 million to Duke University to “support science and technology education and research at the Pratt School of Engineering as well as financial aid for undergraduate students.”
Durham Technical Community College Foundation and Families Moving Forward each received $200,000 in funding and leadership resources from Bank of America to strengthen nonprofit leadership and “help communities thrive.”

The Asheville Art Museum opened a new $24 million facility on Thursday, November 14th that preserves a historic library building while expanding the gallery space for its permanent collection. The Center for Craft celebrated its public reopening after nearly a year of renovations to its historic 1912 building, both in downtown Asheville.
Golden LEAF Foundation and NC State University partnered to open the NC Food Innovation Lab, a facility “intended to keep more of North Carolina’s agricultural products in the state throughout processing – transforming North Carolina’s agricultural industry along with it.”
