Melinda Gates made a $1 billion commitment to gender equality in the United States though her innovation and incubator company, Pivotal Ventures.

NOAA consulted with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in awarding the grants.

The NOAA RESTORE Science Program awarded $15.6 million in grants to four teams of researchers from across 20 institutions to support work on living coastal and marine resources and their habitats in the Gulf of Mexico.

Google.org will pledged $10 million to support businesses in underserved communities. As part of this commitment, the first $2 million will go to the American Library Association to support entrepreneurship centers at libraries in 10 states and help libraries across the country develop new offerings for small business creators.

Participants in CDM Smith’s employee wellness program selected the United Way of South Hampton Roads as the recipient of $25,000 and awarded an additional$25,000 to 4 Paws for Ability.

The Bob Woodruff Foundation and its initiative the National Veterans Intermediary launched the Local Partner Self-Assessment Tool (LPSAT), thanks to a nearly $5 million gift from Craig Newmark Philanthropies.

The Clean Energy States Alliance will lead an initiative to accelerate the development of solar projects that benefit low-and-moderate-income households and communities through a three-year funding award of $1.1 million from the US Department of Energy Solar Energy Technologies Office.

GameStop teamed up with Extra Life to support Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals with an in-store donation campaign. From October 4th to November 4th, one hundred percent of donations received will help kids going through treatment at one of the 170 local CMN Hospitals.
