The AJ Fletcher Foundation announced their latest grant recipients. In September, the Fletcher Foundation Board of Directors voted to approve grants to seven organizations, totaling $2,990,000 including multi-year grants.
In the months of August and October, the Golden LEAF Foundation has awarded 13 grants totaling $8.9 million to support workforce training, water/sewer infrastructure, equipment, education, infrastructure, and business needs in rural, tobacco-dependent or economically distressed areas across the state.
Duke Energy announced a $100,000 donation to the American Red Cross to assist with the relief efforts in South Carolina and North Carolina due to the effects of the recent storm.
A groundbreaking was held October 6 for the new home for Harbor House of Johnston County – a safe haven for victims of domestic violence. SECU Foundation Board of Directors Chair McKinley Wooten, Jr. joined other community supporters and affiliated partners for the event, presenting a $500,000 grant which will assist with the construction of the 10,000 square foot residence that will provide additional space and privacy for shelter residents.

October 10. Collected non-perishable food and household will go to the families and individuals that Housing for New Hope moves out of homeless shelters and into new homes.
