MetLife Foundation and Marbles Kids Museum are continuing their partnership to spark imaginative, innovative play. A new grant will help Marbles refresh Stepnotes, its popular musical staircase made possible by a 2015 grant from MetLife Foundation.
Susan G. Komen made an additional investment of nearly $26 million to fund 62 new research projects that seek to answer some of the toughest questions facing breast cancer. The grants include $2,011,500 in new funding for research at three institutions in North Carolina, bringing Komen’s total research investment in North Carolina to $43,617,501 since 1982.
Oakbridge Financial Group, LLC, raised nearly $15,000 for the Me Fine Foundation in a single night at the City of Raleigh Museum on August 30.
CASA’s 5th Annual Cabin for CASA Memorial Fundraiser on September 20th raised over $115,000 to support CASA’s affordable housing mission.

The NeighborHealth Center held its official opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony September 27th in Raleigh. NeighborHealth is a new faith-based community health center providing primary care for all ages and welcoming patients with or without insurance. It is accessible to an area of high need in western and central Raleigh where no other safety-net clinic exists.
The Hill Center is changing its name to The Hill Learning Center. The update is part of their 40th anniversary celebration, which also includes an updated website, logo and vision.
To mark Hunger Action Month, Smithfield Foods employees collected more than 45,000 pounds of non-perishable goods for local foodbanks across the country.

The North Carolina Center for Nonprofits‘ 2018 conference, Power Play: Disruption for Good, has been rescheduled for November 27th and 28th.
In celebration of October as North Carolina Archaeology Month, a series of free lectures will be presented by the North Carolina Office of State Archaeology on a broad range of subjects, including the underwater coastal heritage of North Carolina, history of channel improvements in the Cape Fear River, and Moravian pottery production in Old Salem.
The NC Rural Center will host Scott Hamilton, the executive director of the Appalachian Regional Commission, as a keynote speaker for this year’s NC Rural Assembly, which is being held at the Hilton North Raleigh on November 15th-16th.
