The Amon Carter Museum of American Art received an endowment from the Walton Family Foundation for $20 million over five years.

The Northwest Connecticut Community Foundation has made awards to 22 area nonprofit organizations, totaling more than $90,300 during its third grant cycle of 2016. 

The Eli and Edythe Broad Foundation and The Broad Center filled stockings with toys, school supplies, toiletries and personalized notes for homeless students in Los Angeles. 

Whole Kids Foundation raised $2.8 million through their 2016 Growing Healthy Kids Campaign. Money raised will go toward Whole Kids Foundation programs, including school salad bars.

City Harvest donated its 600 millionth pound of food for hungry New Yorkers in December. 

The H.N. and Frances C. Berger Foundation accumulated $2.4 million Coachella Valley Spotlight grants in 2016. 

Exchange Bank donated $20,000.00 to the Redwood Empire Food Bank in honor of its customers and business partners. 

The Rasmuson Foundation will award $240,000 to Six Alaska nonprofit leaders as part of their 2017 Sabbatical Program. 

Water For People received a three-year, $3 million grant from the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation in support of its work in the rural Kamwenge District of Uganda.

Lake Champlain Community Sailing Center received $2 million dollars in grants to build their Community Sailing Center in Burlington, VT.

The Rockefeller Foundation named trustee Rajiv J. Shah as their new president. Mr. Shah served as the administrator of the US Agency for International Development and founded The National Institute of Food and Agriculture.

The National Audubon Society appointed Karen Hyun as Director of Water and Coastal Policy and Justin Stokes as Director of Legislative Affairs.

Mark G. Ackermann has been elected Chairman of VisionServe Alliance.  Mr. Ackermann was previously Vice Chair of the organization. 

GHR Foundation expanded its senior leadership team, Manisha Bharti was named chief of strategy and programs, and Jason Matz, chief investment officer, will work with the foundation’s board, executives and program staff to build the organization.

Legal Services of the Hudson Valley named three new members to their board of directors: Sidney S. Rosdeitcher, Sean Brady and Jean Anderson.

Joni and Friends International Disability Center announce the promotions of three senior executives effective Jan. 1, Laura Pulido, Steve Bundy and Cate Given. 

The Children’s Village announced a merger with Inwood House, a 186-year-old New York City charity specializing in pregnant and parenting teens and pregnancy prevention.

The Urban Institute will host an event on January 18th highlighting IMPACT 5000: initiative to increase support for the 5,000 children living in its properties.

National Hispanic Media Coalition will hold their 20th Annual Impact Awards Gala on February 24 at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel to recognize outstanding achievements of Latinos in the media.

Common Threads encourages children and families to focus on their health in the coming year with Cooking for Life Month. This awareness campaign is dedicated to encouraging children and their families to cook at home and make better nutritional choices.
