The Northern New Jersey Community Foundation awarded a grant of $1,100 to the Dr. John Grieco Scholarship Fund at the Academies@Englewood for the 14th annual Englewood Idol talent competition.  The grant award provides $100 scholarships for each contestant to record one song and the entire group to collaborate and record two songs together on a professionally developed CD in a studio.

Eight organizations in three southeast Michigan counties are receiving $1.1 million in grants from the Community Foundation’s Head Start Innovation Fund. The grants will support the organizations’ recompetition for federal Head Start Funds for Detroit-based agencies and for teacher recruitment and retention in the Tri-County area.

For the 11th consecutive year, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield has committed to Presenting Sponsorship support of the annual American Lung Association in Wisconsin Fight for Air Climb.  Anthem’s involvement has continued to grow since the inaugural Climb in 2009 and is expected to top $500,000 in total sponsorship and team fundraising with this year’s event.

DKBinnovative has named the recipients of its inaugural $50,000 DFW Non-Profit Cybersecurity Grant. The recipients are ChildCareGroup, Dallas Afterschool, Emily’s Place, North Texas Food Bank, PediPlace, Inc., Prosper Waco, and Seeds to STEM.

Assurant President and CEO Alan Colberg presents Rebuilding Together Executive Director Bob Cleveland and team with a $10,000 charitable grant and mobile tablets during CES 2019. The Assurant Foundation support furthers Rebuilding Together’s transformative work in the community that is enhanced by the power of technology.

The League of American Orchestras launches The Catalyst Fund, a three-year pilot program of annual grants to adult and youth orchestras that aims to advance their understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) and to foster effective EDI practices. The Catalyst Fund is supported by a three-year, $2.1 million grant to the League from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

Thanks to a $2 million gift from alumnus Jim Perschbacher, more students in Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business will be able to gain broader global experience through studying abroad.

The Daniels Fund honored five Colorado Springs Police Department officers and one administrative support associate with a prestigious honor, the Bill Daniels True Blue Award.

The Ammon Foundation awards $48,000 in scholarships for the Spring 2019 semester.

Center on Addiction and Partnership for Drug-Free Kids has merged under the name Center on Addiction. As mortalities mount from drug overdoses in this country, the organizations are uniting to accelerate progress against this deadly disease and transform how the nation addresses addiction.

The National Hispanic Media Coalition has lambasted both the USC Annenberg Inclusion Initiative‘s recent study, “Inclusion in the Director’s Chair”, for excluding Latinos as part of its research and findings, as well as Los Angeles Times reporter Jen Yamato for failing to follow up with the study’s researchers as to why Latinos were not included.

Strengthening America’s low-income communities through arts and culture requires more nuanced, holistic and creative approaches along with better ways to measure progress, according to a newly-released Creative Placemaking analysis from The Kresge Foundation. “Rethinking Neighborhood Change and Tracking Progress” is the third in a series of Kresge white papers aimed at sharing lessons, identifying challenges and encouraging conversations in the Creative Placemaking field.

​​HomeAid America’s sound fiscal management practices and commitment to accountability and transparency have earned it a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator. 

Vans invites public and private high school art students to participate in the tenth year of Vans Custom Culture, which was created to provide high school students a platform to showcase their creative abilities, while providing access to underfunded art programs. This year marks a decade of Vans’ continued dedication to giving back to the arts through its competition where students have a chance to win a grand prize of $75,000 and $10,000 to four runner-up schools.

Hearst has selected Donna Kalajian Lagani to join the Hearst Foundations after her nearly 25 years at Hearst Magazines. Kalajian Lagani assumes her new role February 4th.

The St. Baldrick’s Foundation has chosen its five 2019 Ambassadors.

Bloomberg, the New York Alternative Investment Roundtable and the Hedge Fund Association will be hosting a discussion with Stan Litow entitled A Spotlight on Corporate Ethics and Your Bottom Line on February 7th from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. Registration is currently open. 

SheIS is challenging the public to help their mission to grow awareness and support of women sports by launching their “SheIS Challenge.” For every public sign-up SheIS receives on their website between now and the end of the Women’s World Cup (July 7th, 2019), SheIS will work with a series of brand partners and foundations to donate one dollar, up to $1 million, to support grassroots programs that support women and girls in sport.

The Foundation for Child Development will be hosting a webinar entitled A Closer Look: The Unique Needs and Promise of Children of Black Immigrants and Refugee Children on January 23rd from 2:00 to 3:00 PM. Registration is open through January 18th. 

Community Foundation of Broward has issued a call for grant applications for programs that empower Broward adults to take control of their health and prevent and reverse life-threatening weight-related illnesses.  Applications for “BFit” grants of up to $100,000 are due by February 8th.

Submissions for the 30th Annual LOUIE Awards has been extended to January 18th by the Greeting Card Association
