Women to Women, a grantmaking endowment at The Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro which supports issues relevant to our community’s women and families, has awarded a $10,000 grant to Greenhill’s Learning ART Together program

The Me Fine Foundation announced over $175,000 was raised at their annual gala on September 26th. The Me Fine Gala serves as the non-profit’s annual signature fundraiser, to provide financial assistance and emotional support programs to parents and caregivers whose children are receiving long term medical treatment from Duke and UNC Children’s Hospitals.

David Foster with Waverly Artists Group is making a generous donation of a $1,000 Larry Dean painting to CORRAL Riding Academy. This donation is to assist CORRAL Riding Academy during their Forever Home Campaign.

The City of Raleigh Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Resources Department is currently developing a comprehensive policy on user fees and scheduled six workshops to engage the public on development of policy that balances the needs and interests of individuals with those of the community at large.

The N.C. Community Development Initiative and N.C. Housing Coalition announced a partnership to create greater economic opportunity and expand affordable housing in North Carolina’s hardest-hit and most underserved communities. The partnership leverages the significant assets and networks of both organizations to achieve greater impact for the state.

The Mint Museum and The Savage Way, a local marketing group, used Clean Graffiti to distribute interactive art pieces in the areas of Charlotte that NexGen Teens frequent.

On October 29th, Director and Publisher Chris Fromm, N.C. Representative Pricey Harrison and Anita Earls of the Southern Coalition for Social Justice gave a talk through the Institute for Southern Studies on voting rights and political finance in North Carolina.

Durham’s Partnership for Children, a Smart Start Initiative, held its Annual Board Meeting on Thursday, October 15th to elect officers and new Board members to serve for the 2015-16 fiscal year. Karen O’Mansky will serve as Chair of the Board, Cathie Collie will serve as Vice Chair of the Board, and Ilene Britt will serve as Secretary of the Board.

The N.C. Community Foundation and the Catawba Valley Community Foundation hosted the first ever Pop-Up Philanthropy event. The event was held at the SALT Block Foundation  and featured discussion of opportunities for collaboration and increased local philanthropic impact with both Foundations and the Unifour Foundation Endowment leadership.

StepUp Ministry Raleigh Board Chair Ashley Campbell has been honored as Attorney of the Month in Attorney at Law Magazine. Ashley has served on the StepUp board for four years and is currently serving her second year as board chair.

The Arc of N.C. Conference was held on September 25th-26th and leaders from the Tammy Lynn Center served on panels, partnered with Project Enlightenment and United Way partner Learning Together for a presentation, and provided respite care for families attending the conference.

On October 23rd, Senator Richard Burr toured the Durham Rescue Mission and met with Dr. Ernie Mills to learn how the Mission is helping men, women, and children toward becoming fully functional members of society without the use of government funding.

The Orange County Arts Commission hosted a reading of 2015 Piedmont Laureate James Maxey’s Washington Science Fiction Association Award nominated short story “Silent as Dust” on the eve of Halloween in Hillsborough’s historic Burwell School.

Smith Anderson Partner Sammy Thompson has been inducted into the Wake County Boys & Girls Clubs Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame honors individuals, civic groups and corporations that have strongly impacted the Clubs. Mr. Thompson has been involved with the Boys & Girls Clubs for over 38 years, joining the Board of Directors in 1977 and serving as its president in 1983.

The Emily K. Center presented to colleagues at conferences for theNational College Access Network and the N.C. Center for Nonprofits.

WakeEd Partnership President Steve Parrott and Board Member Caroline McCullen served on the panel for the 2015 STEMology Conference on October 22nd hosted by the News & Observer and Bayer CropScience.

WomenNC will host its annual Fall Reception on November 5th in Raleigh. There will be a meet and greet with Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) Fellowship Alum and WomenNC Board Members, featuring an introduction of the new 2016 CSW Fellowship recipients.

The Association of Fundraising Professionals Triangle N.C. Chapter will hold a Reception & Awards Ceremony for National Philanthropy Day on November 5th to honor those committed to philanthropy in the Triangle, bring together community leaders as partners to elevate the dialogue of needs and opportunities, and provide networking for AFP members and the philanthropic community.

The 6th Annual Feast of Caring, hosted by Open Door Ministries of High Point, will be held Thursday, November 12th. This community event will support Open Door Ministries programs which include Emergency Services, Men’s Homeless Shelter, Arthur Cassell Transitional House and the Father’s Table Food Kitchen.

The N.C. Museum of History will host a free screening of “Brewconomy” and panel discussion on Friday November 6th. The documentary highlights how the craft beer industry is supporting local farm-to-fork efforts, encouraging agricultural innovation, and strengthening community ties.

, based in Chapel Hill, is joining thousands of family planning experts and activists from around the world at the 2015 International Conference on Family Planning in Nusa Dua, Indonesia.

Operation North State will be sending gift boxes to soldiers stationed abroad this holiday season. The 6th Anniversary NCCARES Christmas Box Project will feature thirty-six North Carolina products and messages, including North Carolina food and special messages from North Carolinians.

On November 21st, North Carolina novelist Daniel Wallace, UNC-TV television host Deborah Holt Noel, trombonist Danny Grewen, and the Mebanesville band will join an all-North Carolina troupe for the Murphey School Radio Show, an old-time variety show to benefit local nonprofit agencies.

The UNC Center for Excellence in Community Mental Health will hold the annual Fundraising Gala at the UNC George Watts Hill Alumni Center on Thursday, November 12th. The guest speaker will be Mr. Pete Earley, well-known author and mental health advocate.

The 46th Annual Carolina Artisan Craft Market, hosted by local nonprofit the Carolina Designer Craftsmen Guild, will be held November 8th and will feature a diverse mix of craft art including pottery, sculpture, wearable and decorative fiber, glass, jewelry, metal work, furniture, leather, photography, printmaking and mixed media.

On November 22nd, the Touring Theatre of North Carolina will host Jingle Bell Jazz, an evening of holiday jazz singing, featuring a silent auction that will help the Touring Theatre bring Greensboro’s stories to schools, libraries, festivals and more.
