The Pacific Dental Services Foundation will embark on a service trip to the Tigray Region in Northern Ethiopia to provide donated dentistry to underserved patients in the communities of Mekelle and Hawzen.

The Israel Cancer Research Fund awarded 69 new grants, totaling $4.3 million for the 2019/2020 funding year. The grants are for basic and patient oriented research critical to finding cures and treatments for cancer.

Since its founding in 1978, Mercy Ships has served in more than 55 countries and directly impacted more than 2.71 million lives. The charity last served in Senegal in 1996.

Mercy Ships aims to provide up to 1,700 free surgeries during 10-month field service in Senegal. In addition to providing a variety of free surgeries, Mercy Ships will treat more than 4,000 patients with dental ailments as well as 2,000 to 3,000 patients suffering from eye conditions and diseases.

The Onassis Foundation renewed a $640,000 grant to support graduate study of ancient Greek thought at The New School for Social Research through 2024.

Wellcome Trust, Cloudera Foundation, and Omidyar Network partnered with Nesta to fund grants supporting human and AI collaboration. Click here to access the application, open until Friday, October 25th.

The Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship, in partnership with the World Economic Forum, named High Resolves co-founder and CEO Mehrdad Baghai as a “Social Entrepreneur of the Year.”

The Duchess’ visit to m2m was one of her official engagements on the Royal Tour of Southern Africa.

mothers2mothers (m2m) in Cape Town, South Africa, hosted Her Royal Highness, The Duchess of Sussex Megan Markle for her to learn more about m2m’s work to “create a generation free from HIV and healthy, thriving communities in eight sub-Saharan African countries.”

Davi Kopenawa Yanomami, the “Dalai Lama of the Rainforest,” has won this year’s Right Livelihood Award, known as the “Alternative Nobel Prize.”

Activist, supermodel, and entrepreneur Iman joined CARE as the nonprofit’s first-ever Global Advocate, a role which was created for her.

Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong was honored with World Statesman Award from the Appeal of Conscience Foundation.

Clean the World Foundation declared positive results including increased school attendance and overall awareness of the importance of hygiene from students participating in its 12-month WASH education project in Merikit, Uganda. Click here to learn about the WASH program.
