On September 6th, PetSmart’s Buy a Bag, Give a Meal program donated nearly 40,000 pounds of pet food to the Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan.

Robert Steven “Steve” Hicks, vice chairman of the Board of Regents at The University of Texas System, gifted a total of $25 million to advance The University of Texas at Austin’s School of Social Work.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society will provide up to $1 million in direct donations to blood cancer patients who have been impacted by Hurricane Harvey.

The Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas will provide $6.7 million in grants and another $275,000 in donations to help with Hurricane Harvey recovery efforts in Southeast Texas counties designated for assistance by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

In honor of National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, Hyundai Hope On Wheels will award 40 research grants to children’s hospitals across the country, adding $8.5 million in funds to pediatric cancer research.

The George Family Foundation awarded $1,235,000 to 15 organizations out of an annual giving budget of more than $3.8 million in their latest grant round. 

Norwalk Hospital received a $35,000 grant from Newman’s Own Foundation to support specialized pediatric care services at the Women and Children’s Health Services Pediatric Development & Therapy Center.

The AS&F Foundation awarded $5 million to the Braille Institute of America, Inc. (BIA) to help BIA transform and sustain their Low Vision Program.

Feed Arkansas Kids will be awarded $4,000 in Partnership Grant Program funds from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas and BancorpSouth Bank to help provide meals for residents of a home for area homeless women and children, as well as provide financial literacy training and job placement services.

Mars, Inc. pledged $1 billion in investments over the next few years toward climate change, poverty and scarcity of resources, specifically targeting renewable energy, food sourcing, industry coalitions and support for farmers.

Venable LLP announced the addition of Anne K. Gerson to their Nonprofit Organizations Practice as counsel in both their New York and Washington, DC offices.

The KBG Foundation partnered with Boston-based FDNA to accelerate precision medicine and to better recognize the clinical signs of KBG Syndrome in patients with FDNA’s facial analysis technology, Face2Gene.

On September 9th, the Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Habitat for Humanity of Snohomish County’s Twin Creeks Village affordable housing project took place in South Everett.

The Painters and Allied Trades for Children’s Hope Foundation will donate $1 to support the National Alliance on Mental Illness‘ Ending the Silence program for each new “like” on Facebook.com/PATCHfoundation, up to $10,000, in September as a part of Suicide Prevention Month.
