The Lenoir County Community Foundation awarded $8,000 in local grants from their community grantmaking fund.

The University of North Carolina School of the Arts for Catawba County Fund awarded $14,190 in local grants.

The New Hanover County Community Foundation awarded $47,000 in local grants from the community grantmaking fund, the Suzanne and George Taylor Endowment, the Food Bank of Coastal Carolina Fund and the 1898 Memorial Fund.

The CVS Health Foundation, in partnership with the National Association of Free & Charitable Clinics awarded grants to Reidsville’s Free Clinic of Rockingham County, Elkin’s Grace Clinic of Yadkin Valley, and Raleigh’s Alliance Medical Ministry to support their community wellness programs with a focus in diabetes care.

The Wells Fargo Foundation donated $20,000 to Communities In Schools of Charlotte-Mecklenburg.

The North Carolina Community Foundation awarded the first scholarship from the Andrew Stephen Hendrix Memorial Scholarship Endowment to Kyndall Emalee Turner of New Hanover County.

Transitions LifeCare added an executive team member and three full-time physicians: Nicole Martin, as vice president of quality and compliance/chief compliance officer and Joshua Dowd, Rachel Lipner, and Sophia Paraschos as hospice and palliative medicine physicians.

More than two dozen Chiesi USA team members volunteered their time to prepare 150 care packages that will be delivered as part of The Me Fine Foundation‘s 2018 Christmas in July program. 

Special Olympics North Carolina selected Officer Phillip Smith of the Chapel Hill Police Department to serve as part of the Final Leg team, serving as a Guardian of the Flame as he runs the “Flame of Hope” throughout the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in March, leading up to the start of the 2019 Special Olympics World Games in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Chef & the Farmer’s Ben Knight and BEST NC‘s Brenda Berg were named to the NC Rural Center‘s Board of Directors at the organization’s June meeting. The Center also announced the addition of Bronwyn Lucas as the new director of leadership.

Playworks North Carolina and Centervention are partnering to bring their respective play-based tools to schools across the country in an effort to bring social emotional learning to the forefront of a child’s education.

United Way of Alamance County will hold United Way Day 2018 on Thursday, August 30th.

We Share Solar, Wells Fargo and Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools launched the We Share Solar Suitcase initiative.  During the 2018-2019 school year, Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools students will build solar suitcases to light classrooms in Kenya.

Leadership Winston Salem and HandsOn Northwestern North Carolina are now accepting submissions for their 9/11 Day of Service. 

The Public School Forum of North Carolina, in partnership with Duke Policy Bridge and the Samuel DuBois Cook Center on Social Equity at Duke University, will present Color of Education: An Evening with Nikole Hannah-Joneson Tuesday, October 2nd at 6:00 p.m. on the campus of Duke University at Penn Pavilion. Tickets are available now.

The Elizabeth Edwards Foundation is seeking dedicated adults to serve as volunteer mentors for the 2018-19 school year.

Piedmont Farm Animal Refuge will hold their Annual Benefit for the Animals on Saturday, October 6th. 

Dr. Bikram Singh will host the Dentistry From The Heart Event providing adults with free dental care on August 11th, 2018.

The NC Philanthropy Conference will take place August 30th at the Benton Convention Center in Winston Salem. Registration is now open. 

Registration will be closing August 10th for the Triangle Nonprofit and Leadership Center‘s next Service Enterprise Initiative training.

The Junior Women’s League of Smithfield is accepting new members through August 1. 

The annual Cultural Arts Booking Fair will be Saturday, August 11th at Wakefield High School in Raleigh from 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. The fair is presented by the United Arts Council of Raleigh and Wake County and will feature approximately 70 professional artists from across the country with youth programming.
