Murray and Nancy Duggins have pledged $300,000 to the Reeves Fine Arts Building project for Methodist University‘s Nancy and Murray Duggins Theatre under the Capital Campaign project. This pushes the total for Capital Campaign to $35 million dollars.

On July 24, in partnership with Wake County Chick-Fil-A locations, Urban Ministries of Wake County held Christmas in July Food Drive which benefitted the local community. Each person was asked to bring four non-persishable items to receive a free Chick-Fil-A sandwich.
Durham Circle of Support
Durham Circles of Support, by the Genesis Home, will be hosting an information session on Thursday, August 20th so the public can learn how to help formerly homeless households sustain housing and increase their level of sufficiency.
The Summer Feeding Program at the Boys & Girls Clubs will serve nearly 15,000 meals to children and teens at the three Boys & Girls Clubs locations on Raleigh Blvd this summer. Partnering with the USDA and NC Department of Public Instruction, Boys & Girls Clubs helps to bridge the food insecurity gap for youth in some of the Raleigh area’s most deserving neighborhoods during out-of-school summer months. The Boys & Girls Clubs along with the NC Department of Public Instruction, School Nutrition Services, Safe and Healthy Schools Support Division, will be hosting a Summer Feeding Awareness Gathering Friday, June 26 11:00am – 12:30pm at the Ralph E. Capps Teen Center in Raleigh.
Student Action with Farmworkers
Student Action with Farmworkers will celebrate their 2014-2015 year’s program accomplishments with a theater performance and a new student documentary presentation, “I Am, I See, I Think, I Wonder” at an end of Summer celebration on August 8.
Student Action with Farmworkers (SAF) is looking for 60 perennial donors. For each sustainer that gives $10/month, the Fund for Democratic Communities will give SAF $100 to help fight for farmworkers rights.
On Tuesday, August 4 join the Arts and Science Council of Charlotte and the Durham Arts Council for a free screening of Spiral Bound. The event will take plase at the PSI Theatre in Durham.

Duke HomeCare and Hospice presents Heart Healthy Living by Rushad Shroff, MD, FACP on August 19th. Dr. Shroff will discuss ways to prevent and manage cardiovascular disease and updates on dietary links to cardiovascular disease.

Bayer CropScience helped Passage Home celebrate the start of the school year by hosting the nonprofit’s summer campers for a day of Making Science Make Sense fun. Bayer’s science education program gave fifth graders hands-on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) skills through various experiments covering pollination, molecules, chemical reactions and more on Wednesday, July 29.

On July 1st, Curamericas Global started a new partnership with the Sierra Leone Annual Conference and Mercy United Methodist Hospital to implement a one-year pilot program in Bo District, Sierra Leone.
