This year’s Air Canada Foundation golf tournament netted $1,072,000 in support of organizations focused on health and wellbeing of children in Canada.  Now in its fourth year, the tournament was held Monday, July 13th, at the Saint Raphaël Golf Club, Québec. The event featured 73 teams totaling 292 golfers from across North America.

Purolator has delivered 228,352 pounds of food to food banks across Canada as part of its Purolator Tackle Hunger® Week campaign. From June 1 to 5, Purolator employees, partners, agents and customers held events across the country to raise food and cash donations for food banks in their communities.

People say everything you do online leaves a footprint. Now one company is taking that idea literally and scaling it up to make an innovative impact on the environment for future generations. Displate, the online popular art retailer, announced today the planting of 100,000 trees as they reached 100,000 Facebook Likes from fans around the world.

Akshaya Patra’s kitchen in Visakhapatnam is now feeding a total of 22,059 children from 82 schools. The Foundation was previously serving food to 5,249 children across seven Zilla Parishad High Schools in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

At the UN’s Third International Conference on Financing for Development, world leaders are looking at ways in which all sources of finance can support sustainable development. The purpose of the conference is to develop a financing framework for the world’s new sustainable development agenda, the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), and ensure that resources support economic development and improve social outcomes in areas like health, education, and employment opportunities, while protecting the environment.

Shoppers Drug Mart and the Partnership for a Drug-Free Canada (PDFC) are proud to announce a third National Medicine Take-Back Campaign to be held from July to December 2015, including a new partnership with Loblaw Pharmacy that will increase the number of participating pharmacies to 1,800 nationwide.

ChildFund International, a global child protection organization, has selected software from Advanced Business Solutions US (Advanced) to automate its budgeting and forecasting, saving the organization up to six days every quarter.

Children of ArmeniaOn July 8th 2015, Children of Armenia Fund (COAF) Founder and Chairman Dr. Garo Armen, along with supporters, government officials, community and friends broke ground on COAF’s first SMART Campus. “SMART” is a pioneering model for delivering superior and regionally-relevant educational, social, economic and community programs in rural areas with an emphasis on technology, sustainability, arts and music, modern healthcare and lifestyle, linguistics and languages, business and civic engagement.

A recent study, released in June as a chapter in the Small Arms Survey 2015: Weapons and the World, has investigated the long-term effects of violence on young people in Burundi, and the implications for the country’s future.

Canadians for Clean Prosperity announced that Mark Cameron, a former policy director to Prime Minister Stephen Harper, will become their new Executive Director. Canadians for Clean Prosperity is an independent group dedicated to strengthening both the economy and the environment by pricing pollution and cutting taxes

The UBS Optimus Foundation announced the appointment of John Fairhurst as its new Executive Director of Programs, effective immediately. John has joined the Foundation from the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition, where he was Chief Operating Officer.

The Enactus India National Competition was held at the Leela Ambience, Gurgaon, India on July 21 and 22, 2015. During this two-day event, teams from leading colleges across India showcased the results and impact of their community outreach projects. Enactus India is a student-based organizations in India supporting free enterprise and entrepreneurship. Enactus projects are guided by distinguished faculty advisors who help students apply their classroom experiences to develop and implement real-world educational outreach programs.

Nominations are open for the Aurora Prize for Awakening Humanity, a new annual international humanitarian award to be given to a person or a group of people who put themselves at risk to enable others to survive. From July to October, a designated portal will allow individuals to submit nominations for candidates they believe have overcome great personal challenges to make an exceptional impact on preserving human life and advancing humanitarian causes.

With established fundraising practices being challenged by new, faster, and less complex ways of fundraising, distinguishing between what’s hot and what’s not is crucial for any fundraiser. The International Fundraising Congress, October 20-22 in the Netherlands, will  explore the latest fundraising trends and leading innovation.
