Lowe's Heroes have distributed hundreds of free cleaning supplies to help residents in Clarksburg, Charleston and White Sulphur Springs. (PRNewsFoto/Lowe's)Lowe’s donated $250,000 to American Red Cross Disaster Relief to help those affected by the recent flooding in West Virginia. Lowe’s is also working with its national nonprofit partners to provide both immediate and long-term support to the flood victims. 

Long John Silver’s donated food to 400 people in Richwood, West Virginia who have been affected by flooding.

The Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco awarded $76 million in Affordable Housing Program grants for targeted affordable housing projects. The grants will help construct or rehabilitate 6,318 units of housing affordable to lower-income families and individuals in 11 states.

Samsung shipped Galaxy Tab A 8.0 Tablets to Fisher House Foundation houses for military and veteran families to communicate with loved ones while recovering from illness or injury. 

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association will host a Grants Banquet on August 4th and will donate $2 million to non-profit entertainment-related organizations and scholarship programs. 

Henry Schein, Inc. joined with 20 supplier partners to provide 3,000 Welcome Kits to American Cancer Society Hope Lodge facilities, which will then distribute the kits to people undergoing cancer treatment far from their homes.

FloWater joined the relief efforts in Flint by donating eight water filtration units to locations throughout the city. This donation is the first sustainable, permanent solution of its kind that purifies and transforms tap water, regardless of its source.

Cerus made a donation of INTERCEPT Blood System pathogen reduction kits for platelets and plasma to HEMORIO, a public hospital responsible for transfusion medicine and hematology care for the state of Rio de Janeiro. 

7.11.16 Steven and Alexandra Cohen Foundation_RevisedSteven and Alexandra Cohen Foundation donated $3 million to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles in support of the hospital’s neonatal unit. In honor of the couple’s donation, the unit will be named the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation Newborn and Infant Critical Care Unit.

ComEd and Openlands will award more than $200,000 in grants to 22 Illinois municipalities – each receiving up to $10,000 for open space projects that focus on conservation, preservation and improvements to local parks and recreation resources.

Northwest Connecticut Community Foundation awarded $133,225 in scholarships and awards for the 2016-2017 academic year.

Rasmuson Foundation awarded $7.5 million in grants including the Ronald McDonald House in Alaska, The Place Where You Go to Listen and the Tanaina Child Development Center

Little Kids Rock received a grant from The NAMM Foundation. The grant will allow Little Kids Rock to present its 4th annual Modern Band Rockfest; Little Kids Rock’s national teacher conference and movement-building convention. A portion of the grant will also fund program evaluation efforts in support of Little Kids Rock-Philadelphia.

National Council of Nonprofits in a new survey found that while nonprofit organizations support fair labor standards and paying workers overtime, the new federal overtime rules will force many to pursue government grants and contracts to reduce staff and cut back on services.

National Association of Landscape Professionals with 400 landscape professionals joined together at Renewal & Remembrance to enhance and beautify Arlington National Cemetery on July 11th. 

Providence Health & Services and St. Joseph Health System have come together to create Providence St. Joseph Health, a not-for-profit health and social services system that will serve as the parent organization for more than 100,000 caregivers across seven states.

Camp Noah is currently in Lake County, CA to help children victims of the fires in Lake and Calaveras Counties last September.

Consumer Reports has named fundraising professional Shar Taylor as its new Vice President of Development.

NeighborWorks America named Rachelle Arizmendi, Vice President & Chief Operating Officer of Pacific Asian Consortium in Employment in Los Angeles, as one of 50 executive leaders selected for the NeighborWorks Achieving Excellence Program.

Citizen Schools today named Gerry McGraw, Chief Financial Officer of Fidelity Investments, and Laura DeBonis, an independent consultant, to its National Board of Directors. 

Miracle Flights, a not-for-profit organization that provides free commercial airline tickets to seriously ill patients, had their 100,000th flight. The organization was founded in 1985.

Select VCA Animal Hospitals in Northern California are offering free boarding assistance for small animals, including dogs, cats, birds and pocket pets, to families who are impacted by the many wildfires burning in the area. 

City Limits Music Fest, a Milwaukee area’s country music festival, has teamed up with Food for the Hungry to help fight poverty, a dollar from every ticket purchased on Friday July 15 will go to the organization. 

The Steve Fund launched a new online knowledge center that offers expert information on supporting the mental health and emotional well-being of students of color.

Spotlight on Poverty and Opportunity, Policy Matters Ohio and Cleveland State University, present a non-partisan discussion about the challenges faced by low-income people in Cleveland and surrounding communities on July 18. 

The Container Store partnered with the US Fund for UNICEF during the “Get Your Life Together” summer sale campaign. The Container Store customers can make a monetary donation in-store or online, with the goal of raising $250,000 to support UNICEF’s work.  

Horizon Solar Power launched its “Acts of Sunshine” program. Through this program, Horizon will partner with local organizations to collaboratively give back to surrounding communities.
