Starfinder Foundation receives U.S. Soccer Foundation grant, Rockefeller Foundation launches #Solvable campaign, Colorado Innovation Community begins two-year health equity initiative, and more.

Chef José Andrés was selected as the recipient of The Julia Child Foundation’s fifth annual Julia Child Award, an award accompanied by a $50,000 grant which Andrés indicated would be gifted to World Central Kitchen.

The Helen Diller Family Foundation awarded their annual Diller Teen Tikkun Olam Awards with each of this years’ 15 awardees receiving $36,000 to support either their education or philanthropic initiatives.

Orange County’s Credit Union raised over $4,000 in donations for the Children’s Hospital of Orange County at their latest “Shred and eWaste Day.” Over the course of two days, the Credit Union collected 24,470 pounds of paper and 10,020 pounds of electronics to safely recycle.

The gift of a new student bus means greater safety and mobility for Southeastern Guide Dogs students.

The Lions Club International Foundation and the Lions of MD-35 raised over $100,000 to help Southeastern Guide Dogs purchase a new bus to assist the organization’s visually impaired and veteran students with safe and accessible transportation.

TD Banks’ The TD Charitable Foundation selected The Community Chest for a $5,000 grant for an initiative to combat rising trends in obesity and diabetes.

The Field Foundation of Illinois awarded recipients of the inaugural Leaders for a New Chicago award supported by a $2.1 million grant from the MacArthur Foundation. Each of the 14 recipients received a $25,000 award and an additional $25,000 toward the general operating funds of their affiliated organizations.

Social Finance received $2.3 million in funding from Schmidt Futures, Prudential Financial, Bank of America Charitable Foundation, and Google.

Starfinder Foundation received a $22,500 grant from the U.S. Soccer Foundation meant to fund the development of Starfinder’s programs for girls.

Habitat for Humanity launched its first-ever nationwide advocacy campaign in the United States: Cost of Home. The campaign will mobilize volunteers, community members, and partners throughout the country to find the solutions and help create the policies that will assist 10 million individuals meet their most basic needs.

The Audre Lorde celebrates their 15th annual Trans Day of Action.

The Audre Lorde Project will commemorate the 50th universal of the Stonewall riots of 1969 with their 15th annual Trans Day of Action march and rally at Washington Square Park in New York City on Friday, June 28th from 4-6 pm.

The Colorado Innovation Community—a group managed by the Center for Care Innovations and comprising the Colorado Health Foundation, The Denver Foundation, Rose Community Foundation, and Colorado Access—launched their two-year, $3 million initiative to advance health equity through innovation in Colorado’s safety net.

The Developmental Disabilities Institute will host the Thoughts in Color art exhibit at the Main Street Masterpieces Art Gallery on 9 West Main Street in Smithtown, New York on Monday, July 1st from 4-7 pm.
