The North Carolina Development Initiative received $750,000 from the Golden Leaf Foundation to help small businesses in NC counties impacted by Hurricane Matthew, western wildfires, Tropical Storm Julia, and Tropical Storm Hermine.

The Triangle/Eastern NC Chapter of JDRF celebrated its 14th annual Hope Gala at North Ridge Country Club on April 29 and raised $950,000 in support of JDRF’s mission to create a world without Type 1 diabetes.

Great Outdoor Provision Company donated 10% of its sales from their Raleigh and Chapel Hill stores on June 3rd to Triangle Land Conservancy to celebrate Land Trust Day.

The board of advisors of the Montgomery County Fund announced more than $26,000 in local grant awards from its community grantmaking fund.

This year’s Library Services and Technology Act grants totaled over $2.3 million, and include 39 awards for local library projects. Awardees were announced on June 8th.

Two four-person teams are racing across America in 3,000 Miles to a Cure on June 17th to beat brain cancer. The Lumberton-based organization’s goal for this event is to raise $100,000 for brain cancer research.

YNPN Triangle NC hosted “Ya’ll Means All: LGBTQ Allyship Training” on June 7th, as an interactive and informative training about how to be a better ally in many situations to the LGBTQ community.

Durham Area Volunteer Administrators hosted their June workshop on June 8th.

Novant Health Kernersville Medical Center partnered with the American Heart Association to bring the first-ever HeartChase event to Kernersville on June 2nd.

Leadership representatives of the North Carolina Community Foundation and the Women’s Impact Network of New Hanover County announced that Women’s Impact Network will become an independent organization by year-end.

Firebirds Wood Fired Grill of Charlotte sold lemonade from June 9th-11th for $3 per cup, with all proceeds going to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation.

Communities in Schools of Durham recognized students for their progress and success during the 2017 Graduation and Awards Ceremony.

The American Heart Association announced a first-ever community-focused CPR Anytime initiative with BB&T in Forsyth County.

The Association of Fundraising Professionals Triangle North Carolina Chapter is encouraging individuals and organizations to nominate a donor or peer for various awards in honor or National Philanthropy Day. Nominations will be accepted until July 1st.

The North Carolina Humanities Council is now accepting Large grant proposals for public humanities projects of extended scope that explore North Carolina’s rich diversity, traditions and cultures. Applicants may request a maximum of $25,000. This deadline for draft proposals is June 30th.

United Way of Greensboro is hosting the Shoebox Project to collect basic need items. Shoeboxes will be put together on June 21st during Day of Action.  

The 16th Annual 24 Hours of Booty for 24 Foundation is presented by Levine Cancer Institute and is seeking volunteers on July 28th and 29th.  

The North Carolina Planned Giving Council is inviting all nonprofits in eastern North Carolina to “Planned Giving 101,” a seminar focused on how to raise more money by beginning or running a planned giving program.  

Triangle VegFest is hosting its inaugural 5k Fun Run/Walk on June 25th at Southern Village Green in Chapel Hill. The funds raised will go to Piedmont Farm Animal Refuge.

Brookdale Meadowmont is inviting individuals to the community with a complimentary breakfast on June 21st.

Tosco Music is seeking volunteers to before and after their Beatles Tribute performance on June 17th.

Raleigh Arts, The Town of Cary, and United Arts Council of Raleigh and Wake County are hosting a special presentation of Arts & Economic Prosperity V on June 23rd.

WomenNC and other feminist organizations in the Triangle are joining forces to participate in the Feminist 5k on June 17th with proceeds benefiting the Women’s Center of Wake County.

The Carolinas Foundation Center at the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library will host Grant-Ready Program Development and Operations on Thursday, June 22nd from 1:30 to 3:30 pm.
