The Pfizer Foundation named LifeNet International (LN) among the 2018 cohort of Global Health Innovation Grant Program recipients. Since 2016, the Pfizer Foundation GHIG Program has supported LN’s efforts to equip health workers in 10 existing primary-care health centers in Uganda.

Global War on Terror Memorial Foundation, the congressionally-designated non-profit foundation tasked with organizing, fundraising and coordinating efforts to build a new memorial on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., today announced that Michael “Rod” Rodriguez will serve as its Director.

DKT International released their 2017 global impact data.  This data shows that through innovative social marketing of contraceptive products and services, DKT delivered 36.6 million couple-years of protection (CYP), or the total estimated protection provided by contraceptives in a one-year period, as well as helped to prevent 7.6 million unwanted pregnancies, 14,600 maternal deaths, and 4.6 million unsafe abortions. 

 iWave, the leading software provider for donor research and fundraising intelligence solutions, appointed Gerry Lawless as its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO) & Chief Evangelist. Gerry is moving to this position from his previous role as CEO at iWave, which he held for six years.

Australian Wildlife Conservancy  has completed construction of the world’s longest feral-cat proof fence at Newhaven Wildlife Sanctuary in central Australia. Completion of the fence is a critical step in establishing an initial feral predator-free area of 9,390 hectares. This will be the largest cat-free area on mainland Australia.

On March 22nd, an official delegation from Bucheon City, South Korea visited Pearl S. Buck International for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding for future collaboration and cultural exchange between the city and the organization.

State of the World’s Birds 2018, a new report from BirdLife International, looks at the health of bird populations worldwide. Instantly recognizable and beloved bird species including Snowy Owl Bubo scandiacus, Atlantic Puffin Fratercula arctica, and European Turtle-dove Streptopelia turtur are all now globally threatened with extinction.

The Bayat Foundation, Afghanistan’s largest, private, non-profit Health, Education and Social Development Organization, has  launched the construction of a four-floor 25,000 square foot Bayat Maternity and Neonatal Hospital, which will be located in Kabul City.

The Global FoodBanking Network (GFN) has set a goal to combat childhood hunger by increasing the number of children served by food banks in its network by 10 percent to total 3.4 million. The effort marks the second phase of GFN’s ‘8 Million by 2018‘ Challenge, a worldwide initiative to provide meals to eight million people facing hunger by the end of 2018. 

One5 Foundation, in conjunction with NueHealth Holdings, is  completed phase two for a new birthing center on a medical campus in Malawi, Africa. The birthing center will consist of approximately 100 beds and is scheduled to be fully operational this summer.

The Vidanta Foundation and the Wilson Center’s Latin American program released a call for application for its residential fellowship on “Fostering Sustainable Tourism Development in Latin America and the Caribbean.” The fellowship will begin in September 2018.

L’Oréal Paris’s signature annual philanthropic program, Women of Worth, opened its call for nominations on April 3rd.
