The Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation announced today a $60 million dollar pledge to the Miami Children’s Health Foundation which will benefit Miami Children’s Health System. The pledge will go towards the Together for the Children campaign, the campaign for Miami Children’s Hospital. In recognition, Miami Children’s Hospital—the flagship of Miami Children’s Health System—and its network of outpatient centers will bear the Nicklaus Children’s Hospital name, effective in March of this year just in time for their 65th anniversary.
International Galapagos Tour Operators Association (IGTOA) recently announced that a recent emergency fundraising campaign in support of the Charles Darwin Foundation (CDF) has reached its target of raising $75,000.
The MacArthur Foundation named nine organizations as recipients of the MacArthur Award for Creative and Effective Institutions. The Award, which recognizes exceptional nonprofit organizations that are engaged in the Foundation’s core fields of work and helps ensure their long-term sustainability, provides each organization with $350,000 to $1 million, depending on the size of its budget.

The Vera Institute of Justice has named Christopher Weiss director of its Substance Use and Mental Health Program (SUMH).
P.S. ARTS, a non–profit organization providing arts education to 20,000 children attending underserved public schools, announced that the Board of Trustees has appointed Dr. Kristen Paglia as the Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. Dr. Paglia has served in a leadership role at P.S. ARTS for six years, most recently holding the title of Executive Director, Education & Programs.

On January 22nd, The Carolyn Anne Watts Foundation, Inc held the opening reception of an exhibit dedicated to mental health sponsored by Chase Brexton Health Care and Black Mental Health Alliance. The artwork features work from Carolyn Anne Watts who was an acrylic artist who battled with depression. The opening reception was the first in the series of A Dialogue on Mental Health: Creating Community Solutions.
National Museum of Animals and Society (NMAS) opens Fall 2015 near Los Angeles’ Museum Row. The museum is dedicated to enriching the lives of animals and people by exploring our shared experience through their collection, exhibitions, public programming, and educational efforts. The museum centers on animal studies, the history of animal protection, and the importance of humane education.
