NewsON, through support from NewsON consumers, donated $10,000 to the Fayetteville Area Habitat for Humanity chapter of North Carolina to assist in rebuilding communities affected by Hurricane Matthew. NewsON presented the donation on November 1st.

11-21-16-secu-foundation_revisedThe SECU Foundation donated an interest-free loan of $413,000 to Pearce House, a permanent supportive housing complex developed by Housing and Economic Opportunities (HEO), Inc. 

On November 17th, the annual GSK IMPACT Awards, in partnership with Triangle Community Foundation, honored ten local nonprofits with $40,000 each for their achievements in contributing to a healthier Research Triangle Region.

High Point University received a $10 million anonymous gift that will support a new undergraduate sciences school and building; construction will begin Summer 2017. 

Wells Fargo and Company donated $160,000 to Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity as part of $6 million in grants awarded across 56 nonprofits through its 2016 Wells Fargo Housing Foundation Priority Markets Program to help stabilize and revitalize neighborhoods impacted by the economy.

New Hanover County Community Foundation, an affiliate of the North Carolina Community Foundation, awarded more than $30,000 from the Riegelwood Disaster Relief and Recovery Fund in local grants. Wesley United Methodist Church received more than $30,000 for its programming assisting victims of Hurricane Matthew in the Riegelwood community.

The Carolinas Center for Hospice and End of Life has received a $1,063,800 grant from The Duke Endowment to fund an online platform for individuals to gain better understanding of their health, while developing advance care plans to address life’s uncertainties.
