Norwalk Hospital and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) launch the MSK Physicians at Norwalk Hospital, a new cancer care collaboration, AIDS United awards grants to 10 community-based organizations for its Positive Organizing Project, The Association of Fundraising Professionals Fort Lauderdale/Broward Chapter will host its 30th annual National Philanthropy Day Awards Luncheon on November 15th, and more.

The Cummings Foundation received a total of 597 requests from local nonprofits asking to be considered for its $100K for 100 grant program. The 100 grants of $100,000 each will be awarded next June.

AIDS United awarded grants to 10 community-based
organizations for its Positive Organizing Project to help end HIV stigma and discrimination while building leadership among people living with HIV. 

NFL Player Chris Long will donate his upcoming 10 game checks to further his support of educational equity. In conjunction with his contribution, Long is launching the Pledge 10 for Tomorrow campaign.

Las Vegas-based medical flight charity Miracle Flights will provide free commercial air travel to those who may need access to specialized, distant medical care to treat their injuries from the Route 91 shooting.  

The 23rd annual Halliburton Charity Golf Tournament, held on October 18th, raised more than $2.5 million for 24 nonprofit organizations across Houston and the U.S. The tournament has donated almost $14 million to charities over its 23-year history.

The Rite Aid Foundation donated $50,000 to the American Red Cross to help the victims, families, and communities in northern California affected by the wildfires.

The Medina Foundation has granted more than $100 million to organizations supporting families in the Puget Sound region in the past 70 years, and the grant that put the foundation over the $100 million mark was recently awarded to the Dawson Place Child Advocacy Center in Everett, Washington.

Stearns Bank N.A. donated $250,000 to the American Red Cross to aid local relief efforts in areas of Texas and Florida affected by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma and extended $5 million in zero-interest loans to help its customers get operational as quickly as possible. 

The Boston Foundation Board of Directors approved $1,540,000 in single and multi-year discretionary grants to 23 nonprofits. In addition, the Board approved another $547,428 in single-year Open Door grants to 23 additional Boston-area nonprofits.

More than 100 veterans biked from San Francisco to Los Angeles during the 10th annual 450-mile UnitedHealthcare California Challenge benefiting veterans and first responders with PTSD and other injuries. 

The Wayne State University Mike Ilitch School of Business and Aly Sterling Philanthropy are partnering to host the Board Member Accelerator Series, a program for training nonprofit board members, November 10th-11th.

Impact Hub Berkeley hosted The Ignite Institute‘s day long conference-style retreat, Decolonizing Social Innovation, on October 21st to dismantle the colonizing practices inherited from our shared colonial past.

Norwalk Hospital and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) launched the MSK Physicians at Norwalk Hospital, a new cancer care collaboration that will integrate MSK medical and radiation oncologists and care practices with the existing cancer program at the C. Anthony and Jean Whittingham Cancer Center at Norwalk Hospital.

The 10th Annual Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas Auction was held October 19th-21st at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino to benefit first responders through the Injured Police Officers Fund in Las Vegas, the American Red Cross, NASCAR Foundation, Convoy of Hope, YMCA, SEMA Memorial Scholarship Fund, and TGen Children’s Cancer Research Fund.

Delta Air Lines’ President Glen Hauenstein accepted Keep America Beautiful’s 2017 Vision for America Award at the nonprofit organization’s annual award dinner in New York City on October 17th. 

Columbia University School of Nursing celebrated 125 years of nursing excellence at its Building the Future Gala on October 17th at the Mandarin Oriental in New York City.

The Urban Resource Institute (URI) raised funds to provide shelter, services, and protection for victims of domestic violence at its second annual URI Celebration fundraiser on October 18th in New York City. 

The Consumer Technology Association Foundation announced the winners of the annual Eureka Park Accessibility Contest at CES 2018. The winners were selected from emerging Eureka Park-eligible startups based on the potential of their innovative technology to positively impact older adults and people with disabilities.

The The Forgotten Americans exhibit, featuring the work of Enrico Dungca, will run until December 15th at the Exhibit Gallery of Pearl S. Buck International in Hilltown, PA.

Bay Area based Fremont Bank has established a dedicated hotline and email address for clients who have been impacted by the California fires. 

Gwyneth Paltrow will be honored with the Giving Tree Award at Paul Mitchell Presents the 2017 Baby2Baby Gala on November 11th in Los Angeles.

The Association of Fundraising Professionals Fort Lauderdale/Broward Chapter will host its 30th annual National Philanthropy Day Awards Luncheon on November 15th.

Photo exhibit, A Most Beautiful Country, will open at Presidio’s Golden Gate Club in San Francisco during Fort Ross Dialogue. The exhibit was brought to the United States from Russia by the Renova Fort Ross Foundation.

Fidelity Charitable has collaborated with the Center for Disaster Philanthropy to provide a list of organizations providing relief services for the California wildfires. 

Sugarlands Distilling Company will donate six $10,000 grants to organizations selected by communities across the country through its 2018 Year of Giving campaign. Applications are open through November 6th.

October marks the start of Niemann-Pick Type C (NPC) Awareness Month. Hopeformarian.org and the NPC community are launching the #NoPuckerChallenge, and every dollar raised by the challenge will directly fund and accelerate research conducted through Support Of Accelerated Research for NPC and the Ara Parseghian Medical Research Fund.

Local breast cancer survivors, caregivers, volunteers, and corporate and community members gathered at the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk on October 21st in Concord, North Carolina.

More than 64,000 National FFA members from across the U.S., representing all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, are expected to attend the 90th National FFA Convention & Expo in Indianapolis October 25th-28th.

Parkland Health & Hospital System and the Dallas County Hospital District Police Department are joining to take part in the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on October 28th at the Simmons Ambulatory Surgery Center.
