Opération Enfant Soleil received a donation of $150,000 from the Air Canada Foundation to carry out projects at major pediatric centers in the province.

For Giving Tuesday 2016, Walmart Canada gave away 1,000 grants of $1,000 each to eligible Canadian non-profit organizations.

Beit Hatfutsot, The Museum of the Jewish People in Tel Aviv, Israel has been awarded a $10 million grant from the Koret Foundation, based in San Francisco.

Scotiabank has donated $1 million to Children’s Health Foundation and London Health Sciences Foundation, fundraising partners of London Health Sciences Centre, to fund The Scotiabank Family Assistance Program, which supports women, children and their families experiencing financial hardship during treatment.

Alwaleed Philanthropies and the END Fund will collaborate to help end the neglected tropical diseases that affect over 1.6 billion people. Over the next three years, Alwaleed Philanthropies will provide US $3 million to support the END Fund’s activities to control and eliminate neglected tropical diseases globally, with an emphasis in Africa and the Middle East.

The Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) presented a three-year grant for intensive summer journalism courses at a Press Conference in Greece. The program will be implemented by Columbia Graduate School of Journalism.

Benevity Inc. has surpassed $1 billion in donations to almost 105,000 charities in 2016.

The Arcus Foundation has appointed Annette Lanjouw, previously Vice President of Great Apes Program and Strategic Initiatives, and Jason McGill, previously Vice President of Social Justice Program, as Co-Executive Directors of the foundation.

Medical Teams International’s Healthy Women Healthy World Seattle chapter hosted a screening of the documentary “A Walk to Beautiful” on January 26th. The event included a Q & A with the film’s producer.

BirdLife’s Cambodia Programme, which works to save several Critically Endangered species from extinction in Cambodia, has received a prestigious medal from the biodiverse country’s government.
Transparency International has selected the Carwash Task Force (Força-Tarefa Lava Jato) of Brazil has been selected as the winner of the 2016 Anti-Corruption Award.

On December 3rd, the staff of Graduate Women International (GWI) office in Geneva, along with supporters, successfully ran the Escalade 5k race. The race is an annual event that celebrates Geneva’s victory over the Dukes of Savoy in 1602. GWI ran to raise awareness of the importance of education and its ability to help women and girls have better lives.

The 17th International Anti-Corruption Conference took place from December 1st-4th in Panama City. Leading experts from a wide variety of disciplines gathered under the theme “Time for Justice: Equity, Security, Trust.”
The Copenhagen Consensus Center is the winner of Prospect Magazine’s 2016 Think Tank of the Year award in the “International Affairs” category for think tanks based in the US. The Center’s work was commended by the judges as being “truly innovative and global in its scope.”

The John D. Gerhart Center is currently accepting abstract and practitioner submissions for its Sixth Annual Conference on Philanthropy and Civic Engagement, which will be held in Cairo, Egypt, May 8th-9th, 2017.
